Bigtelboy1 -> Hello everyone! (Apr. 2 2013 20:44:07) Greetings from sunny Scotland! I just thought I'd introduce myself. Terry Hall, live near Glasgow but English by birth. Always been into Flamenco but only been trying to play it properly for about 18 months. In a previous life I played heavy rock guitar! Just like to say that whilst I get a lot from YouTube etc.it would be great to get to know some local people who have a similar interest. It seems a bit of a flamenco desert up here. I've put a few recordings on YouTube last year but I think I'm a bit better these days....I certainly understand more about compas & am expanding my technique slowly. Favourite Palos are solea, bulerias & fandango de Huelva. Un saludo!

I've been attempting this flamenco guitar disease for about 9 months myself but playing the guitar for 30 odd years and this one has really got me!! Play with your thumb behind the guitar neck, not over it. Those electric guitar habits are not good for Flamenco. But, as you said, those videos are from last year and hopefully you have already corrected this. You should join the Soleá challenge. It's a great incentive to learn some new stuff and you get a very helpful feedback from other members.
