Hello everyone!

Greetings from sunny Scotland! I just thought I'd introduce myself. Terry Hall, live near Glasgow but English by birth. Always been into Flamenco but only been trying to play it properly for about 18 months. In a previous life I played heavy rock guitar! Just like to say that whilst I get a lot from YouTube etc.it would be great to get to know some local people who have a similar interest. It seems a bit of a flamenco desert up here. I've put a few recordings on YouTube last year but I think I'm a bit better these days....I certainly understand more about compas
& am expanding my technique slowly. Favourite Palos are solea, bulerias & fandango de Huelva. Un saludo!

Hi Terry......welcome. Seems a little odd saying this to someone who joined before me but.....!
I've been attempting this flamenco guitar disease for about 9 months myself but playing the guitar for 30 odd years and this one has really got me!! Know what you mean about finding like minded people.
Couldn't find you on you tube ,what name you listed under, would like to have a listen.

Welcome to the Foro Terry!

Just saw your youtube videos. You are going fine but you need to correct your left hand posture. Play with your thumb behind the guitar neck, not over it. Those electric guitar habits are not good for Flamenco. But, as you said, those videos are from last year and hopefully you have already corrected this.

You should join the Soleá challenge. It's a great incentive to learn some new stuff and you get a very helpful feedback from other members.

Thanks for the tip. I've checked a more recent recording & the thumb is still there a bit especially when doing nut chords. I'll work on that. If I move my thumb out will that make me play any faster? Ha ha!
