Yea, I think you're right, Ramon Amador perhaps?

Conrad -> RE: Let's have the most complete complete list of flamenco guitarists ---UPDATED (Sep. 29 2005 14:31:50)

Flo, are you sure Bandera has a solo cd? I've never heard of it.

El Polaco -> RE: Let's have the most complete complete list of flamenco guitarists ---UPDATED (Oct. 6 2005 15:18:54)

Florian.

Take someone off the street. Learn him every flamencotechnique you know.
Let him mumble "soy Manitas da plata.." once in a while.
But never ( I repeat never) tell him about any compas or rythm.

That's Manitas da plata[;)]

By the way. Has someone ever heard of Miguel Ochando. I have a tape here with him accomanying Carmen Linares. He plays very nice. Don't know if he's ever made a record though.

leo -> RE: Let's have the most complete complete list of flamenco guitarists ---UPDATED (Oct. 7 2005 0:49:43)

Miguel Ochando is a well known guitarist from Granada that performs, and taught some great guitar players in Granada.

leo -> RE: Let's have the most complete complete list of flamenco guitarists ---UPDATED (Oct. 7 2005 0:52:47)

Miguel Ochando
Born in Granada, he started playing the guitar when he was ten years old, performing for the first time only one year later at the Flamenco club "Peña de la Platería". It was here that he received his training as an accompanist, going on to win various competitions (for example first prize in the category of Voice Accompaniment on TVE's television programme "Gente Joven" in 1985) and to perform on various records. He has accompanied such important flamenco singers as Enrique Morente, José Mercé, Carmen Linares, Antonio Núñez "Chocolate", Miguel Poveda or Luis Heredia "El Polaco". He began his career as a solo guitarist under the tuition of the Granada maestro Manuel Cano and has won second prize in the National Flamenco Guitar Competition several times. He is currently in great demand all over the world both as an accompanist and as a solo guitarist

Thank you Leo!!
Had that cassette-tape for years, thought he was some obscure player...

P.s. Sorry for my remarks on Manitas, but the thing about his compas is (IMO) sad but true[8D]

Kate -> RE: Let's have the most complete complete list of flamenco guitarists ---UPDATED (Oct. 8 2005 17:16:31)

Miguel Ochando is currently playing guitar in the Mario Maya dance spectacle Dialogo de Amargo along with Rafa Habichuela and Emilio Maya. I'm pretty sure he has recorded an album. I heard about it a while back but have not seen it in the shops or heard it yet. Maybe he is still looking for a distribution deal or perhaps like many recordings it will disapear from lack of promotion and distribution. I'll ask around when I'm at the Peña.

Like Emilio he teaches at Carmen Las Cuevas

What about Javier Conde?

Guest -> RE: Let's have the most complete complete list of flamenco guitarists ---UPDATED (Oct. 8 2005 19:39:44)

There are so many good guitarists who have never made a record that this thread is a bit pointless. Few are better than Roman Vicenti and who has heard of Ricardo Rivera????

I have discovered 4 new albums i didnt have before that i like, this thread has been more usefull than any talk about what nail product or what strings to use (for the million th time), infact almost anyother general discussion thread if you take advantage of it.

took me 5 minutes to write and I discovered 2 new guitarists i like and got 4 new albums because of it, at the end of the day my main concern is my own development, so i would change the " pointless" thing to the most usefull piece of information i have ever seen in the Public discussion forum.

Besides it took me as long to copy and paste as it did you to write that is "Pointless" but atlist i came out with 4 albums out of it [:D]

Few members live where they can hear about these guys so perhaps the thread should read "... most complete list of recording flamenco guitarists"?

Guest -> RE: List of flamenco guitarists that have a CD out (Nov. 2 2005 23:31:05)

Yes, it is Ramon Amador accompanying Chocolate and the Farruco's in Saura's "Flamenco."

Don't know that Ramon has his own CD out however and I understood this the criterion to be on "the list."

Florian -> RE: List of flamenco guitarists that have a CD out (Nov. 4 2005 0:42:24)

I know guest it got a litlle confusing [:D], I dont know myself everyone that has a cd, but i am pretty sure i have seen Ramon Amador cds out.

i could be wrong tho

Hi Florian,

taking a look on your list I´ve just noticed you have a double name. I would leave the article before the name if the guitarist is already known without it.

Example: "El Niño Josele" => just "Niño Josele"

In the same way we would have otherwise "El Niño Ricardo". It may sound a little bit more spanish but imho I´d say its superfluously. Just a suggestion.

Btw: ñ = [ALT]+0241 [;)]

Saludos
Bernd

XXX -> RE: Let's have the most complete complete list of flamenco guitarists ---UPDATED (Oct. 27 2006 9:41:58)

u wont take Amir John Haddadada into your list? He has a CD out called Pasandeo Tabernas or so.

Florian -> RE: Let's have the most complete complete list of flamenco guitarists ---UPDATED (Oct. 27 2006 9:51:28)

I blame romerito for this !! this thread was dead and burried

this list was dont 2 or 3 years ago, i dont wanna keep coming back here and redoing it everytime theres a new guitarist.

i pass the torch to whomever wants the responsibility of adding new names every month just copy the list, paste and add the names u like.
