I don´t agree.
To my taste this is the visually least appealing blanca I have seen from Andy.
Even just from plain ol´ aspect of colour matching, if you check out how black, brown and red will match you´ll find them hardly corresponding some 30% or so.

I like the uniform shade of top and corpus, but with the modest matching of the ebony at the latest the rosette should had linked them better.

Not to sound too negative though. It still is a handsome and inviting guitar, only that to my taste others I have seen from him were certainly more beautiful.

Here's a steel string that I have just finished. The neck had been orphaned and a friend of it's owner asked me to build a body for it. It's an OM.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Ok, here's a couple of photos of our latest "Spartan" model. This one has a strong voice and perfect action. It's exactly what I would want if I could still play.

Anders, how much does the Padauk guitar of yours weigh in comparison to other negras (and blancas too)?

The Silver Oak blanca looks beautiful.

padauk weighs the same as Indian rosewood... So the weight is more or less standard.

Looks like you got upstaged by the phalus headstock topic. What's going on with the luthier's section of this list? Seems like it has degenerated to the point that I'm losing interest much like (apparently) everyone else.

Its been like that before. Lets see if doesnt go back to "normal" again. The whole foro is bit quiet these days. Maybe everyone is busy with christmas or maybe they are just busy putting photos and phallos on facebook.

Here is my latest creation. A Romanillos inspired classical. I was surprised by the volume and projection. I think I will continue using this pattern for my classicals. The body shape and size are mine though and not the smaller bodied Romanillos.

Well yes and no. No like a professoinal guitar builder would. I only build in my spare time right now and so far I have only sold to acquaintances I work with or if a friend ask me to build him something. My day job keeps me from being able to build full time or more often.

Tom, you are a smart man to have a day job. I pursued the art, working by day and designing and building in my spare time, and it worked well, especially when trying to raise a family.

I admire and respect those who work for starvation wages when first coming into this business and my only encouragement would be to learn alternative ways to earn a living, if it becomes necessary.

Otherwise, I fully understand the passion for this art and that, for me, building guitars relieves much of the stress of daily living.

I share your sentiments. Building relieves stress for me too. For now, I am content building "part time" but eventually, I'd like to have more time to do it. A lot more.

Nice guitar Tom. I´ve built 2 with the same concept and I liked them. I also built 2 copies and i actually think I prefered the original concept. A small, very tight classical guitar with a lot of projection but it needs a player with a well devellopped tecnique.

Here is a "snowflake" rosette that I designed with a customer. You won't find nature mimicking my design as real snowflakes have 6 facets instead of 4 or 8, but that was impossible with a mosaic rosette!
It's quite appropriate as 6-8 inches of snow fell outside my door as I was working on it this week.
It's for a classical guitar.
