Read the description below...be sure to understand the basic idea... not that you vote on a misunderstanding.

Do you think a youtube channel of the foro flamenco would be cool where you can find exclusively guitar playing by members?

Hey guys I just had an awesome idea.. like all my other ideas.. :> but..this one I share coz many people will like it for sure.

So here it is.

There should be a foroflamenco.com youtube channel. And a hand full of admins (I would volunteer) would have to care about it.

The idea is to have a collection of all foro member playing in one channel. But,.. the videos should not be uploaded there. It would be too much work to get the videos and copy paste upload the stuff... so therefore the admins should just click on "share" whenever somebody puts something on youtube and links to any thread here. We could deactivate the comment function to all videos to stay in the foro with the discussions.
Like that we wouldnt change anything in the foro but get a nice list of fine playing videos in one place.
The idea is not to discuss anything on youtube in this channel..its just to have it there. And, only guitar videos where people of the foro play. Or build guitars or whatever..but it must be only videos that are recorded by people from the foro. No random links to any other stuff like Paco concerts or such. So, not professional playing and no funny videos that have nothing to do with the guitar playing/building or dancing or singing of members.


Thats the idea. I made this poll to see if there is anybody interested or not. It could be decided later on.


EDIT: I just see with "share" it does not work..or maby just "like" to get them in a list and share the likes... Well,..it will work somehow for sure.

Do you mean everybody uploads using the same username and password? [:-]

But I'm voting "Yes" for the general concept anyway.

It would definitely be nice to have everybody's playing all in one place.

(Although I bet Ramzi's Rumba covers will probably take up 90% of the channel. [:D] )

I'm sure Florian would help with the Admin stuff too...

Hey Ron good question. No, there would be no uploads at all on the foroflamenco channel. Just a couple of admins with password would add/link existing videos in a "favorite-list". They don´t need to be uploaded but only marked for this channel to get that list as I understood relaxander above.

Sorry...don't understand the finer points of YouTube...I just use it to watch Flamenco and some videos of cats and drunks and stuff. [:D]

Yes, but there is no problem at all. The admins just mark an existing vidoe as favorite. There are no copyright violations or anything similar. Youtube even wants that...its networking a positive thing.

(And not any video they want... only videos of foro people that have been already uploaded and linked to the foro in any thread. Not Paco or a random jerk who can´t park his car... Only if Paco would be member here and uploads a video to the foro where he crashes his car. Only then it would be allowed to "favorite" it.)

Well they cost time and are a bit of pain in the butt imo. Necessary simply because its expected if youre adressing alien people, but not really useful. Its like laundry, you "have" to do it; although in contrast to that, laundry actually IS useful lol. Don't agree Deniz,

A simple "please" or "thank you" takes about a second to add to a sentence and actually really does make a difference when meant sincerely.

Unless you're just into grabbing stuff and not giving a sh!t about anything or anybody.

Which I guess is the new "cool" these days.

It sounds good at first , but you will find that it will be linked even at first to hundreds of videos , and growing everyday maybe with no order , and that may put a few off.
I understand the concept, my only concern is it will be big and unordered .

Many , I think perhaps all, of us here have you tube channels of which some videos may be already linked to something here, me for example , if you check my profile you will find a link there to my flamenco stuff on youtube.
Many others have this , and from time to time I have checked out a good player to see what else he may have on offer that i like.
Its gonna be so big that way its like ..there is Youtube .......and there is GuitarTube ....what this would turn into is a type of FlamencoTube..
.........

maybe a section on here where members can add there flamenco only channels to a list ....and one could browse by name ,.....or maybe not .....
Well yes , I will vote yes on the principal but I think it should be thought through a bit better to avoid a big mess.........

I voted yes. I think it's a cool idea for the foro to have its own you tube channel.

One idea would be to have someone experienced like Ricardo decide which videos get to go on there. Perhaps that would provide a goal for members, to have your video included? It could be like a reward for reaching a certain level?

There could be criteria like having solid technique and compas in your video. And that you must be a fellow? etc...?

I'm also happy with everyone being included with no criteria so the above is just a suggestion.

lol...i know what u saying...and it could be a good thing....or it could cause more problems than its worth with people feeling left out or feeling like they deserve to be there when others dont...u know.....cause extra unneeded dramas....i think the only criteria should be that you are a member here


i was thinking more along the lines of a video library of all our members here, where u can search and find anyone and everyone......id even go as far as saying...everyone MUST upload at least one video lol...kind of like your profile photo here


but u could do it the other way too, i dont know...it might work...i dont feel strongly about either one...if i need to bribe or sleep with whomever decides I AM GETING IN [:D]

A cross section of all levels from beginners to professionals should be available and categorize, including the various styles therefore anyone wishing to use it as a tool can benefit.

I think this can distinguish this channel from others already available.

It might be more work than initially thought, but just my 2 cents.

Playlists could be used to categorize levels and palos pretty easily,

I'm not suggesting that admin only uploads videos at grishas level, but imo some kind of quality control would likely work in the channels favor.

We could also make a promo video to advertise the foro, and the composition challenge cd. Who knows, It may generate a few sales of the cd and attract new members?

I voted yes.
It's a very good idea in principles. However, as El Kiko said, it needs to be carefully thought through. We need to think about what we are trying to achieve. One main purpose would surely be to help each other learn new things as well as sharing ideas, etc.

There should be some sort of order in place. For example, the ‘Falseta Swap Shop’ thread is very good but if you are searching for a specific palo, you will have to go through every single post to find what you’re after. So, if folks are submitting videos to this Youtube channel, I think they should be categorised otherwise it will be a big bag of mixed stuff.

Also the idea of having a knowledgeable admin is good as the videos should be checked for accuracy, quality, etc. I don’t think anyone would like to see off compass videos for argument sake!

With one caveat, that the video is posted here and comments on YouTube are disabled, so that any discussion does not get broken up between here and YouTube - if you are going to use the forum name - include the discussion URL here in the YouTube description of the video. It might then drive more new members to us.

Otherwise, I would vote against using the forum name in establishing another community.
