I saw at "Strings By Mail" these Savarez Strings.... Does anybody has any experience from this set?

these look new to me. I have never heard of them or seen them and I check out this website often!

Why not try them yourself and give us a review?

I have noticed that you are hunting for new strings? Possibly the best strings for your new guitar? I went through this and I still am as well. The best advice is to try yourself man. Every guitar is so different that it is impossible to know what is going on. Look at how many members here love Labella 820 red trebles. I used to love these, they made my factory flamenco actually sound great. Then I bought a hand made concert flamenca blanca, and I slapped them on, and they sounded terrible, thin, weak, plastic.

I would try these strings for fun (Tomatito ones), but my expectations are always low when the strings or a guitar are named after an artist.

Hello Harry,

I always haunt new strings, although i know that is waste of time. [:(] But i'm really a string maniac. I think you're right about these ones.

It's the same thing as D' Addario new flamenco strings. At the beginning all reviews were great but after few days most of the users wrote that they were a very thoughtful trick by D' Addario.

P.S. La Bella 820 Red Trebles sound awful to my handmade blanca too. Not La Bella for me anymore. Neither Black Trebles too! [:'(]

Hey Gounaro,

I am also a string fanatic. One of the great things about guitars is that you can change the strings and revitalize the guitar after a while. I love that.

You know what, I am curious. I will order these strings and check them out.

Black trebles I just don't understand. They have sounded plastic on every guitar I have had.

I don't know if he played them, but you are absolutely correct that he endorsed Luthiers. I have several sets with his name and photo on the package.

Just as an aside, I use luthier strings on all three of my guitars (two blancas and one negra), and have always liked them. They have a nice, bright sound, and they seem to last, even the D string.

On your blancas you use Luthier 20?

I also really like Luthier 20s on my Blanca, but the problem is that the low E buzzes too much. Because of this I may go with a higher tension low E string only. I don't like that buzz on the Solea every time I hit the E. Besides this, they are good strings.

oh I just mean that after a few weeks, you can change strings and the guitar sounds new again [:D]

I guess it is similar to drums where you change the skins.

I like Luthier 20 too... But I usualy have problem with D string. It really breaks easily after a while. Not always, but has marks of pitting. Luthier 30 sound very good at the beginning but loses the flamenco sound quickly...

I bought a set of these a while ago, but haven't tryd them yet.
I expect to play atleast twice as good with these strings :D

Not about the new tomatito strings but regarding black trebles.
I'm just now trying blacks for the first time, I just put them on a minute ago, a set of Luthier blacks. I don't expect anything from them.. the trebles I replaced were from the luthier 20 set. I'm just doing it for the heck of it, have to try sometime...

I measured them, and the gauges are very close if not the same as the ones I replaced. Running my fingers over these strings they seem a bit rougher and rubbing them against each other they sound more squeaky than regular clear nylons, they also seem a bit stiffer.. so more plasticky I would guess. I might change them very soon, but I'll let them settle first and give them a proper chance.

I hated the 820R at first but after month they felt a lot better, they still sounded thinner than EJ45 or Luthier trebles, so they might not be good if you like more roundness in the treble tone. I liked the color though, they look way better than black imo :D

Looks like a mixture of their strings rather than a new kind. They tell you that the trebles are New Cristal for the top two and an Alliance for the 3rd. If you look at the numbers it seems that the basses are Cantiga.
By strange coincidence this is exactly the combination I've been using recently, without any input from Tomatito. I like them but I don't sound like him yet.

But i wondered if these two cristal trebles were newer than the usual.
I suppose that is Cantiga set, except the G string.
Cantiga set costs 9.95 and Tomatito set costs 14.35.
Its more expensive for the reason that it got his pic on the package. [>:]

I can't help but notice that assembling this set of strings separately by purchasing Cantiga basses, Alliance G and Cristal B and E strings would be about 2 dollars cheaper than buying the Tomatito set of strings. The Tomatito set is the most expensive in the Savarez line from what I can see.

Lately, the Luthier 20 and 30 sets I have purchased always come with a picture of Paco instead of Tomatito. I guess that endorsement has ended?

I put these tomatito strings on my guitar yesterday.

They sound less metallic comapred to brand new d' addario composite strings, and the treble notes seem a bit sweeter..

though I must say, I only started practicing flamence about 6 months ago... so my opinion might not be completely accurate compared to a advanced flamenco player.

I just use Savarez 510ARJ. The Alliance 1st & 2nd strings (both carbons) might be too bright for a more responsive guitar but they work just fine on my Yamaha and my Saez.

maybe its the weather changing alot lately, but these string don't seem to stay in tune very long, anyone else has this experience??

I have just tried out these Tomatito strings (medium tension).

I agree Gimar that it is now day 3 and they are taking time to settle into tune. They are still stretching I guess? Not a good choice if you need to replace one string live or something.

I like the trebles a lot though. The G especially is nice and bright. Perhaps I will go for this configuration of trebles with some Luthier basses or something.

they kept detuning for the 1,5 month that I had them on my guitar, wich is quite annoying.
Switched them out for some daddario composites, wich barely detune, though I like the savares better tonewise.

I will let you know in a week or so if they are still slipping. If this is the case then obviously they are unusable and we should specifically tell people to avoid them. I am not willing to say that just yet...

I have always stuck with D’Addario’s partly because they stay in tune so well.

Or has some other brand overtaken them in that direction now?
