Hey Yojimbo,

OK. In order for me to believe this Santos Hernandez story, can you please post a picture of yourself holding it....say, with your left hand on the fretboard and your right hand resting on the top of the guitar.
Now even I couldn't believe you could photoshop that, so I'll take back what I said about it being a fairy story.

Deal?

cheers,

Ron

They are not that rare,...its just a story.
Mine fell from a tree, complete with golpeador....[:D]

[:D][:D] If you are playing bulerias in the pic? your third finger on the left hand hammering on is going to sound nasty. lol

LOL!
Hopefully the fretboard will shrink to correct scale length in a coupe of months [:D]

Wow, al lot as been added to this thread since I visited.

Yojimbo, 2 things you mention that I'd like to comment on.

... this thread is very long... you actually said that twice.
The reason for this would be <infamous>. I want every new player to 'know' what they are getting if they buy such a guitar; actually that would be better said as 'what they are not getting' as no one really knows what they're getting...

... you don't understand why the marketing is so despised....
I think that the guitars are really really tied to the luthier name. Apart from factory guitars, guitars are sold using luthier names. When you buy a flamenco guitar, you buy a Reyes, or a Bellido. You know who stands behind them, their guitars is their life's work. Your fav guitars are totally opposite to this, they are even different than the big shops like Yamaha, you don't even know where your Andalusian are made. So your fav guitars are peddled in a way that looks like a scam to sell no name brands at an expensive price. And personally, I think they are.
So you ask why so hard on Andalusian Guitars, I can't speak for others but while luthiers put their soul in their guitars, Andalusian Guitars are there to make a quick buck. These no-name guitars should be sold between $300 and $1000, that is the segment they belong to.
And how can you compare guitars marketing to McDonald or Coke they are completely different products that have nothing in common. That is the same as comparing an Andalusian Guitar to a luthier made one.

And finally, I found a Conde in my attick!.... and it's signed by Paco!!!..... and I don't even have an attick!!!!!

Was it not Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso that Yojimbo supposedly had? But I also would like to see him on a photo holding guitar, that would convince me personally too.[:)]

Nice. Me movin to Holland :) On the other hand more rare guitars seem to be discovered in Toronto :) http://www.foroflamenco.com/tm.asp?m=164364&p=1&tmode=1&smode=1

M.S.A. -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 13:19:03)

Almost impecable, man! But the light on the fretboard where should have been darker area indicates it could be a fake one. But - my admiration, really well done. You know what you do.[8|]

[sm=lol.gif]awesome, Kozz!!

Roger - well said!

M.S.A. -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 13:38:48)

Oh I found it eventually, I thought it was pulled down for a good reason.
Is that only me or someone else also finds his thumb too aggressive for these guitars to sound right? I think the Marcelo Barbero 48, the original one that he compares andelusional sound much better. It has a soul, even though he tries to produce tone so close to the bridge, that poor guitar hardly sounds. Is it intentional??

So, why not, if you are happy owner of this great guitar? you don't even have to show us your face, just put a piece of paper on yourself somewhere where it's visible, saying YOJIMBO. [;)]

XXX -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 14:14:05)

Ok so the 3k Andelusional sounds better than the 10k prestigious guitar? I have to agree with Ruben here, video doesnt lie. But, my 1k Hippner sounds better than both, so ... i think i will stick to my guitar [:)]

bursche -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 14:16:04)

Have you ever seen a 10k Aguilarte btw?

M.S.A. -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 14:22:39)

If it means to have more body is to have better sound, than probably yes, but I mostly seek tone in guitars, to have some interesting colour and natural vibration. Loudness is fine, but not on the expense of tone. And I believe Ruben can not produce a nice tone, he simply scares the shiat out of the guitar when in his hands..

I personally can't sacrifice tone for just having a loud guitar. My newset 50 year old Esteve would've blown away this AG anyway even if it's not that loud if compared.[;)]

What I expect from trebles is to have some necessary body, tone and a ringing effect. These AG do not ring at all.

Harry -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 15:08:46)

Funny how he spends a lot of time on the G, saying it sounds plastic on most guitars etc...

I would say that AGs sound tubby, that is the word I would use.

Tubby: Having low frequency resonances as if you're singing in a bathtub. See bloated.

XXX -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 15:15:55)

No i havent. Is it an Aguilarte in the video? Im sure there are alot of great guitars in the world, but it is the truth if i say i have not one single time thought of playing a different guitar than the one right now (the first months i wasnt impressed by it but it got better with time i think). Dont know i think im the kind of player who is easily satisfied with a guitar, and sticks to it if satisfied. Some players go out and switch alot of guitars.

Sean -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 15:55:30)

I like the part where he mentions people had left because they couldn't understand such an advanced lesson, lmfao. I think people bailed because they could smell a sideshow of a sales pitch brewing not because they were to stupid to understand such an advanced lesson in flamenco guitar playing. I hope at the end they all got T-shirts that read "I signed up to learn how to play flamenco guitar and all I got was a crummy infomercial".

M.S.A. -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 16:01:40)

Yep, that is a good word for it.
Good site, I flew over it.
Btw, maybe most of the guitars yes, but it should not on a good guitar. On mine it has beautiful full ringing even on G string. Can never produce this sound on Navarro for example.

M.S.A. -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 16:04:28)

Especially enetrtaining sounded when he confidently said his AG crap sounded better than any ... Arcangel Fernandes [:D] wow...

Yes it is!

So...are you going to post the picture, or are you going to take the position of "fake" umbridge? ie...

"I don't see why I should have to justify myself. If you don't believe me then don't."

Or the position of.... " I don't have the guitar with me ATM. It's being checked over by a Luthier friend."

Or...

"My Digital Camera has developed a fault and I have it in with the shop to see if it can be repaired." etc etc.

At the end of the day, it's easy enough to do.

Click. Download to computer. Upload to Forum.

And then it settles the issue once and for all.

cheers,

Ron

Pimientito -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 17:19:54)

I think I bought a fake Andalusian guitar. I know a good guitar is a good guitar no matter who the maker is, but I cant help thinking this one was made in mexico.

wow, not a fake andelusional, but a fake guitar!![:D]

bursche -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 17:48:03)

Actually this is the Antonio de Torres 1882 model.
It is better than every Torres guitar I have heard in my life and, of course, available as "doble boca" edition.

M.S.A. -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 18:09:20)

I agree on that how Torres sounds. It's indeed an extraordinary guitar.
However, this one on the picture is not a Torres. At least I haven't seen a Torres like this. But in Mexico this kind of guitars are quite domestic and normal so I bet Pimientito used some Paracho guitar picture, for sake of fun.

rogeliocan -> RE: "Andalusian" Guitars (no trolling) (Mar. 12 2011 18:34:17)

yes and you can get it in orange, negra, blanca; and hell they'll even make it in pink polka dots if you want.
