I just put the new strings on. They totally rock the house. The basses seem more brash, snappy and percussive and SEPARATED. Something the EJ45s are definitely lacking. Alzapua and thumb lines sound great. Trebs seem pretty similar to EJ45.
These strings are second only to Hannabach IMO. I think I will start putting them on new guitars.

Great!! The Hannabach's are a bit more expensive though, arent they?

Really nice to hear the D'addario's are close to advertised. Thank you!!

I haven't tried Hannabach. Any lines you guys recommend that I can try that is similar (or better) in sound than the EJ45 composites?

at_leo_87 -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Jan. 27 2011 1:05:02)

i hope they'll start selling these as separate bass and treble sets soon. and maybe in a higher tension.

chester -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Feb. 16 2011 7:32:52)

Holy crap. Reading this thread was worse than listening to people talk about wine.

gounaro -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Feb. 22 2011 18:03:28)

I have put New D' Addario in my guitar and i think that in 3 days are still very percussive. They are thicker than Pro Arte, but are very responsive. I will wait till be streched completely. But my first opinion is that these strings are very good.

Give you very nice control for alzapua and picado.

Harry -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Feb. 22 2011 18:37:54)

I have purchased these strings and I will put them on soon as well and review them thoroughly.

I purchased the clear nylon kind, I am not sure what you guys are using.

gounaro -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Feb. 22 2011 19:26:47)

Black nylon... [:)]

edguerin -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Mar. 6 2011 9:23:52)

I'm not sure yet about these strings, as I've just put them on.
But the trebles shouldn't be compared to EJ45, as their spec's are identical to the EJ50 (and EJ46).
The basses seem to be similar to the EJ45C as far as tension goes but have a slightly different gauge, which might corroborate the statement that they have a different core.
The flamenco strings are listed as "normal tension" but in fact have hard tension trebles
(compared with other D'Addarios), and normal tension (composite) basses (however, the other D'Addario normal tension basses actually have a higher tension for the D and A strings).

agree.

I've these strings on at the moment. They have huge volume, and quite sound good but not as much as the LaBella 820, which is not that loud, but I prefer it's tone and it's feel. The D'addarios' trebles may have a rounder character to them, but I prefer the LaBella as it sounds a bit sharper.

ToddK -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Mar. 17 2011 2:00:52)

So i finally strung up my guitar with these new D'addario Flamenco strings.

Very dissapointing. They basically dyed some Pro Arte hard tension trebles black, and packaged them with composite normal tension basses.

Though im sure plenty of people will fall for that, and love them.

D'addario rarely lets me down, but they most certainly did this time. Boo..

Adam -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Apr. 13 2011 14:03:33)

Anyone else tried out these strings yet and have any thoughts on them?

gounaro -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Apr. 13 2011 14:17:56)

I dont know what happened but the second set i ordered suddenly becomed very dull (basses and trebles). When i put them first time were brilliant. Very percussive sound and crispy for flamenco. But then i dissapointed. [:(]

Maybe you should try Aquilla's Alabastro trebles (if you like this string) or Conde Hermanos trebles. In this moment i have Pro Arte Normal (the plain ones) and if i will be dissapointed with these i'll be back to my Luthier 30's. [8|]

well, maybe not, maybe i will like them, I think strings sound differently on different guitars , and people have different tastes. [;)]

Sr. Martins -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Aug. 9 2012 14:26:54)

There you have your answer [;)]

Never tried those, maybe someday I'll give a go to the black ones.

kudo -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Aug. 9 2012 14:37:28)

I ordered the black ones actually [:)]

Sr. Martins -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Aug. 9 2012 14:59:48)

Black trebles have more mojo [:D]

bursche -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Aug. 15 2012 10:45:08)

There are strings that break and strings that don't break. I use strings that don't break...I tried composites and would definitely fail to recognize them when comparing them blindfoldedly to normal addario basses.

Sr. Martins -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Aug. 15 2012 12:08:19)

From what I remember, the composite basses are harder and they start with a sound similar to "a few days old".

Didnt like them much but I used them before I heavily modified my guitar, pretty much any bass strings sounded like "thud thud" back then [:D]

Nice to have a review of them ..

Q.. have you tried ( or any one here ) D'addario titanium . trebles ..? i was thinking of getting a set of them next as i liked the Galli genius ones but the basses wernt good and the D snapped within a unusually short time ....

Chilli Fingers -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Dec. 29 2012 12:21:57)

Imo titaium trebles sound terrible and feel terrible. I tried them once and couldnt belive a market existed to support them. If I could describe them in one word it would be 'unatural'. I took em off pretty quick and replaced back to ej46. BUT thats for my taste so dont let me put you off, you should at least try for yourself. Taste is subjective :)

Doitsujin -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Dec. 29 2012 12:24:01)

I made the experience that new treble strings always start a bit numb in sound when they are new....and they become much brighter later on...maybe after 2 month of playing. I wonder if anybody else made the same experience. I wonder about that because I often see people putting new strings on their guitars and they are immediately happy with em.... Im always disappointed and sad about 1-2month with new trebles...before they are enjoyable.. .

El Kiko -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Dec. 29 2012 14:08:40)

I didnt notice that .. I had them on a guitar a was looking for a bit more treble and brightness on ..and they seemed nice , definatlely changed the sound , but the basses were awful , so you would have to mix and match to get what you wanted ..

once its gets to that stage i just went back to good ole EJ 45's ...

but now they have there own titanium out i may give them a try ,,

In fact i will soonish and write a review here , but it seems that you would need more than one review as it really is different depending , of course , on the guitar you put them on ....

gounaro -> RE: New D'addario Flamenco strings (Dec. 29 2012 18:26:21)

The D' Addario Titaniums have an awful feeling at your fingers.

They feel like Savarez Cristal Nylon trebles. Too harsh to your finger tips.

Even that i wasn't a big fan of old plains EJ45, now is the only string that i use.

BTW, i really want to try the Hannabach 827 Flamenco, Low Tension.

Any reviews please.....?????
