This is the best web camera (my opinion) for guitar recording. Check some videos in You Tube. It's FULL HD in 1080p.

People were talking about how great the Quickcam Pro 9000 was too.
Then i bought one, and realized its a piece of crap.

The problem is, Logitech keeps updating the software, and it gets worse
and worse.
They dont list older/working versions on their website.

And, as nice as some HD webcams appear at first glance, the frame rate is still horribly slow, which for fast guitar playing fingers, doesnt work at all.
The hands blurr badly. So "HD" doesnt really mean anything when you're talking about 15fps.

rombsix -> RE: Logitech Pro Cam C 910 (Best Web Camera) (Jan. 3 2011 11:57:24)

Ouch, Todd! I have to admit that you hit the nail on the head regarding fast playing and blurry fingers when it comes to the HD setting of Logitech cams.

If you can make do with your "HD" recorded videos being NOT as smooth as you would like them to be though, then what else did you dislike about this line of webcams?

I guess if you want to buy a camera that has a decent frame-rate and still shoot HD quality videos, then I think you'll need to go to a totally different price range in the several hundred US dollars, right?

A question comes to mind: are you saying, Todd, that the same camera with different software can allow it to shoot at a frame rate of 15 fps, thereby solving the problem of blurry fingers? Or is that a function of the camera (hardware) per se?

Here are two links I just came across. I didn't completely understand the information presented in them...

For 150 dollars (100 euros) you get the best result. If you want the perfect result you can pay a lot lot more.

You can get this camera for only $65 from Amazom.com, Gounaro. [:D] You poor Europeans. [8D]

I never said that I was rich. [8D] By "poor Europeans" I mean unlucky, but then again, you probably make more money's worth (Euro and all), so I guess y'all can manage. [;)]

Yup, you're totally right.

I guess i felt misled by the advertising. There always seems to be a disclaiming "Oh but" in there some where that you never see till you bought it.

Its high def!!! Oh, but its only 15fps. Doh!!

Florian -> RE: Logitech Pro Cam C 910 (Best Web Camera) (Jan. 10 2011 7:11:22)

i just got a better cam for pc too..

i dont know how good it is in comparasement with anything else but its hd...and the sound is way better then the one i had before and video looks better too so i am happy...has auto focus..auto colour, autolight

has 1280x 720p at up to 30 fps....i like that cause before i had to pose and move and jugle when playing guitar to get both hands on video...either that or i was too far away back...this i can be in front of it and it still captures everything including the whole room wall to wall behind me...and it was quite cheap around 80 bucs

the camera details for anyone interested

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/digitalcommunication/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=008

i just took this is a photo with it ...but my fav feature its that it has all this funny inbuilt effects if you want hats and wigs etc and when you move your head it stays on...amazing

Other than Flo's great video effects, can someone help me out with this issue? Is it software that determines frame rate, or the actual hardware of the camera?

Just found this as well:

I would imagine is the camera...even if u did get software that films bigger...it only stretches the cameras capabilities...and if u gonna do that you could do it with any video software..it just takes something smaller and stretches it bigger..like recording at 22.000 kbps and converting it to 44.000

id love to see some photo/video samples someone takes of the other camera so i can compare difference in quality....just curious..

gounaro -> RE: Logitech Pro Cam C 910 (Best Web Camera) (Jan. 10 2011 14:06:40)

I will upload my alien picture from my camera.... [:D]

gounaro -> RE: Logitech Pro Cam C 910 (Best Web Camera) (Jan. 10 2011 14:10:38)

I suppose that Logitech cam has two mics and Microsoft has one. Is that right?

i am not sure yet havent read the manual but i think it has normal audio like 44.000 kbps that's all i need ...its a step up from 16.000 or 8.000 whatever my old one had...my old cam sounded terrible...if i wanted good sound i had to record audio at the same time separately through diff mic and software

gounaro -> RE: Logitech Pro Cam C 910 (Best Web Camera) (Jan. 10 2011 14:37:52)

I 'm sure that my previous camera was a lot worse than yours... I suppose that both we upgraded our cameras! [;)]

How's about a video of you playing some rasgueados and picado (so we can see how smooth the video is), and some chords, using the 720p (High-Definition) resolution, and the microphone built-into your camera? That way, we can sample the audio as well as the video.

Florian -> RE: Logitech Pro Cam C 910 (Best Web Camera) (Jan. 10 2011 14:45:25)

sure..i can do that...just changing my strings atm...and getting distracted with facebook :-) might take a while

also...its night here...it will be ok it lights the room up by itself but of course its not the same as natural light

Take your time, dig. I don't want you waking up the neighbors, or playing out of tune. [8D] Just don't make us wait TOO long. [:D]

Florian -> RE: Logitech Pro Cam C 910 (Best Web Camera) (Jan. 10 2011 16:13:45)

i did one ..playing is not to great but you get the idea of the sound...problem is its 18 mbs and uploading it to youtube will change the original sound and maybe the size of the video a little... anyway gonna upload it...i moved around too so you see it autofocus, and auto light..keep in mind if its was daylight the picture would be clearer

or playing out of tune

too late [:D]

Florian -> RE: Logitech Pro Cam C 910 (Best Web Camera) quick vid test (Jan. 10 2011 16:33:32)

i had to not look at myself on the monitor or id start laughing....i am very happy with it...i am surprised how clear it is considering its night and my room light is quite weak...and i am amazed how it manages to get my whole room and squeeze it into the video...its actually quite a big room...my other cam couldn't even get a quarter of it...and i am very very happy with the sound...for a webcam...that's all i need

oh..u can go to the page and select to see it in hd..

rombsix -> RE: Logitech Pro Cam C 910 (Best Web Camera) quick vid test (Jan. 10 2011 18:01:06)

Man, what sorta video was that? [:D] You plan on becoming Florian the Cat in all your upcoming videos?

I was hoping for a CLOSE-UP video, similar to mine. Like this, for example:

About the video you posted:

1- Damn! It took that camera quite a bit to make all the necessary adjustments (light, focus, cat mask, etc.)

2- You were not zoomed into your right hand well (part of it was even outside the frame of view of the video!), but I felt like when you did picado or rasgueado, your fingers got blurry / choppy, making me doubt that 30 fps value they mention in the camera's description.

3- Those basses were distorting quite a bit! I'd say, stick with your good mic, instead of the camera's mic.

I'm sorry if my evaluation was a bit too harsh, but looking at this video, I'm not convinced I want to buy this, yet. Maybe if you upload a better video (close-up, your hands show clearly in the center of the picture, daylight, etc.), we can better evaluate. But surely, I'd say the mic is NOT meant to pick up guitar...

[:(]

Florian -> RE: Logitech Pro Cam C 910 (Best Web Camera) (Jan. 10 2011 18:04:24)

fussy [8|]

lol its cool man, for me this is a big step up from what i had before and for the money i am very happy with it, the picture and the sound ( unless i need super sound for some reason this is eazyer, its alot of messing around to get sound from mic and synk it with video)...if i put the camera that close to the hand i will get very clear but i didn't...i wanted mask [:)]...and no i wont be the cat every time, that would be chlidish...i have many effects to get through [;)]

Yes it was bit harsh !! you insulted my camera !![:@] ... what am I ? on commission from Microsoft ...you get whatever one you like, i hope your camera brakes...id like to see the other one too to compare...and il probably make some day videos too...soon

jk.

nice video rombsix, but it would have been heaps better if you looked like a cat in it [:D]
