thats a cool record cover.

i guess as it says in the title old msic (trans. classical guitar) all put together for advertisements , , as mentioned Manitas was a well know figure so on the asia market there was a possibility of some dosh, so they just bung anything similar.

its only been recently that classical guitar is starting to take off in some parts of asia, exceptions Japan, parts of Korea.

yet still in the 3rd world places yupu going to be struggling to find flamenco guitar albums on someones shelf!

let alone over hearing someone play flamenco!

i always like to believe everyone has some little spark !, and manitas definitely has that, as do all players here, its always great to hear like a Juan upload , or Toddk, well anyone .

hope we can chill on hear lets be a little more Green have a hug, and just enjoy the forum, too much critism builds negativity , and as there is not like other forms of contact, eye, body gestures, sometimes we get the wrong end of the stick.

as a teacher i always hear way too much criticism not enough nurturing , some of us find playing guitar heard !.

happy playing , i aint played for a month.

Bumped back after 2 years

I had a very nice surprise last week when a friend was clearing out a relatives house who had recently died. She found a box of records and asked me if i was interested in old flamenco recordings. Of course I said Yes and I ended up being given this set of Manitas de Plata albums. They are all in almost unused condition. I didnt actually realise he had recorded so much. I thought there were only a couple of titles out there.
I have posted here all the Manitas de Plata album covers that I have. Did he record any more? If you have more covers please post them here.

"L'espagne de Manitas" and "La camargue"

Try the European version of eBay. Some people are vinyl nuts.

Not wishing to rain on your parade or anything, but are they worth bothering about, except to sell? You seem from your posts to be a competent bloke.

As opposed to Manitas, who, on the soleares from Art of the Guitar (for example), is out of compás within 7 seconds…

I understand your sentiment. I just re read the beginning of the thread again. I'm amazed Manitas sold so many albums in his career and that he got so much fame and recognition at a time when Sabicas was probably the most important flamenco guitarist of the day.
I'm not interested in selling them. I just like having the old records and I am a collector of flamenco related items. The cover sleeves often provide information you cant find in books or on the net. I have a good collection of original carlos montoya and sabicas that I found in second hand shops over the years. Some of those tracks are not available digitally. For me they are nice to have as part of my collection but Im not going to reference him in examples of keeping compas[;)]

cathulu -> RE: MANITAS DE PLATA (Oct. 30 2011 0:23:32)

All those covers are uber cool and represent a different time and place... nowadays there is nothing to collect - nobody will give a crap about the itunes collection

Fine. But when you get to my age, the problem will not be to acquire such things, but to dispose of the accumulated memorabilia before they take over the house.[:o]
