Here is Ron's comments from the earlier thread, which might be helpful and people should keep in the back of their mind. Thanks very much to Anthony for the resources, they are beyond the call of duty! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Folks, If you really want to use that falseta, personally I would begin with a few compas cycles of basic Jerez style strumming since the falseta is already a sort of "intro" anyway. (Listen to Orson's version and also Henrik's Jerezana opening chords.) Everybody could just choose their own strumming pattern intro, which would add more interest to the challenge, since you would have to do a bit of research and listening. Oh...best way to pick it up is to practise the slow version as solidly and carefully as you can. Keep practising at this speed and tapping your foot, so the rhythm of the falseta really sinks in. After that it is fairly easy to speed it up to anything you want. (Oh..you could maybe use "Flamenco Master" at first, just to confirm to yourself which beats the salient notes are landing on if you are unsure.) The F# note on the low E string is on the 12 beat. That's the important one and the one you should be aiming at. The first few notes are just "lead in" ones. I actually play it a bit too fast, but that's because I was really getting annoyed with the recording program keeping freezing up and I just wanted to get it over with before it decided to hang up again ....it would probably sound better played a bit slower IMO. Personally, I wouldn't over complicate the challenge by adding more falsetas, since the whole point of the exercise is to become more confident about Bulerias rhythm and feeling how a falseta fits in to the compás. For learning, simple is always better. You learn much more IMO. cheers, Ron
