Well I have to reconsider my previous statement that there wasn't goin to be a new ho in my guitar.

Is it really that more "fresh" and "open" for yourselves while playin?

well i love it, i play my guitar more because of it ( just hard to put it down when u really really love what u hearing...it sounds like what comes out of your stero)...when u first get it back you really really notice it...and even now i notice it...but its not overpowering, and with time u get used to it and becomes normal (cause u expect to hear that) thats natural...but its there... its defenetly a nicer widder sound, Anders was right the "Stero effect" describes it perfectly

just like when u upgrade tv size or monitor size its only big until u get used to it..and then it becomes your normal...so really the first days is when u really really notice it and after that it slowly becomes your normal...but its not the say that the effect is not the same is just that you are used to it and expect it to sound like that

if i had the choice id do it allover again in a sec..i am happy with mine

kozz -> RE: soundportparty in my patio (Jul. 30 2009 9:33:04)

Thanks,
I am gonna give it a shot myselves one of these weeks on my old 3F, now it has a function afterall [:D]

Will it actually spoil you, being used to a widder sound? Or when you wanna go for that new 10.000 euro guitar without soundport, will you still be un-biased towards the sound?

If I compare it to my youth I was completely freaked on analog synths, than the era of modern technology took it to the next level and I went along ofcourse, but after a few years all those digital synths sounded the same and went back to analog again....

i dont know..havent played another one without a port yet since

i dont know..but i imagine is not eve a question of the guitar is a question of where the sound comes out...so unless the 10.000 guitar has a port the sound wont come out there....it might be better and louder as u expect a 10.000 dollar guitar to be but without a port it wont sound like the one with the port..not a question of price tag...just where the hole is ..i dont know i am guessing...it makes sence to me

thing is ...u stick a port in a 10.000 dollar guitar you will get a guitar that sounds and feels like 12 - 15.000

but not if you wanna seel it.....the thing is however good or bad the guitar is...port will give you more pleasure out of it

not talking resale value...just as far as what you hear and feel

i dont know that i can ever go back to no port...any guitar il get if i change in the future will have a port...and my videos will be proof

[:D] That's what I mean...so if you like a guitar without a port, you'll get one in as quick as possible?

excellent amigo [;)] i dont have a big port like that but i hope you like what you hear..infact tell me what you hear...i wanna compare..my port is smaller and a litlle bit more away from the ear so that i still get sound from the soundhole and not just the port..

yes [:D] i dont wanna do it without the port anymore...its like a refugee thats just been shown Paris and then told that he has to go back to Afganistan [&:]

its like having sex with a supermodel and beeing told after that you have to go back to your ex girlfriend who put on a few punds and lost a couple of front teeth

its like beeing a woman...having sex with a black guy and beeing told that you have to go back to white guys after [:D]....(its not racist if i am including myself in the situation [8|])

Again i hate exagerating ...sounport's changed my like..the sun shines brighter, the water feells wetter, the food tastes better..i am a more understanding and better person because of it..i love it so much that i am thinking of sticking a soundport on my Ipod

at_leo_87,

I'm a lefty so this is MY bass side [:)]. I used a drill to cut out the center and a dremel to shape the rest. I prefer an oval soundport to a circle.

thats because holes rock [:)] didnt we cover that up ?[8|] ...i am still blowing my smoke upwards and using lots of hairspray in hope to bring it back ever since they covered it i cant get a decent sun tan anymore

holes are the most important invention ever...imagine life without holes...we wouldnt be here to begin with...wed just be looking at full alcohol botlles cause there would be no way of dinking it..imagine toilet trips..

the benefits are many...the hole is your friend

Doitsujin -> RE: soundportparty in my patio (Jul. 31 2009 14:11:30)

When thinking twice.. these soundholes look a bit strange IMO.. Who wants to have a black farthole under his nose while playing where blows of air are coming out right in the face?.. LOL ..
eeh.. [&:] To be honest... I should not write when drunk.. I know..

There's a parallel discussion going on right now on delcamp.net about a blind test on soundports that was featured in the Guild of American Luthiers magazine.

Interesting read..

well i can certainly hear a difference from between port and no port on my guitar...even if its preception...there certainly is something there..

and we also conducted our own experiments Jasons video..its there for anyone to hear and decide for themselfs...

whatever it is ...there is something in it...and i also hear myself clearer in class playing for dancers over dancers feet..if this is my brain playing tricks on me i like it [:D]

Andy Culpepper -> RE: soundportparty in my patio (Aug. 3 2009 6:41:49)

Just because you can't tell the difference between different guitars, doesn't mean that if you just take one guitar without a soundport, and then put a soundport in, that it won't sound different. There's really no way to test that, the only person that can tell you if it made a difference is the owner of the guitar who has spent many hours getting to know the sound of their instrument.
Interesting about the spruce vs. cedar though...I recently got a cedar top guitar and it sounds much brighter than my old spruce top..who knows.

XXX -> RE: soundportparty in my patio (Aug. 4 2009 23:56:28)

It does what i wanted it to do - it gives more volume for the player. But it is not the same sound u are used to, it has more bass/mids and more sustain. This effect gets bigger the "less" you capo the guitar. Also the bass strings take a bit over in the sound, they surely profit more from the hole than the trebles.

Regarding the stereo effect... its very cool to play something libre without a capo because now your guitar has a built-in reverb. Yes, the guitar feels much more vibrant too. All in all i would do it again. Its funny that something so profane like a hole can be considered a useful upgrade on the guitar. [:D]
But hey one thing is for sure, i would never want to go back to "mono guitar" [:D]

Florian -> RE: soundportparty in my patio (Aug. 5 2009 1:53:35)

Excellent Deniz ..u jumped [;)]

XXX -> RE: soundportparty in my patio (Aug. 5 2009 4:39:44)

yes i will take a photo. Its a very beautiful hole, im still trying to find the best angle to photograph it. I want to do it justice [:)].

satvic -> RE: soundportparty in my patio (Aug. 9 2009 18:03:22)

i cut my blanka by Jeff Sigurdson right after I saw Jason's video playing Glenn Canin's guitar with a sound port. I don't know who's the owner of the design, the picture stuck in my head from a few yrs back.

I do like the improved sound and volume of the guitar. If anyone's thinking about it, I do recommend to have it done by a professional who can reinforce and seal the port edges to prevent cracks (i'm yet to perfect the edges and to buy the glue and nail polish :)

post a pic when you're done with. it looks great so far. you did this yourself? very impressive!

RobJe -> RE: soundportparty in my patio (Aug. 10 2009 0:30:23)

On stage I use a foldback monitor. At home if my guitar is having a bad sounding day I go and play in the bathroom. Am I missing something?
