Missed.... by a whisker
Microsoft told me last week that I was at risk of being laid off. After consultation, tonight they told me I was not one of those who would lose their jobs. That is the third time I have been "hired" by them in 10 years. Sheesh, recessions suck. What a day.
BTW - I got married to Baby Carrot (from Mexico) last Hallow'een, and we are happily settled in the UK. Even the dog made it back from Spain on his own to join us at Christmas.
Good luck to you all.
p.s. If I had been laid off, I could not afford to keep this place going.

My best friend has worked at Mircrosoft for seven or eight years and has bounced around from job to job several times as the “team” she works for dissolves or gets absorbed into another, or the project she’s working on comes to completion or gets dumped. She’s grown accustomed to the tenuous nature of working there and just kind of keeps at it, knowing that she might have to start looking elsewhere at any given time….
Anyway, congrats on holding on to what you got, at home and at work, and thanks for keeping this place up and running!

Simon, i did not realize that one person supported this singlehandedly. Well, thank you for providing such incredible opportunity and thank God for not triggering the devastating chain reaction that threatend Foro Flamenco.
I am relatively new to these shores, and so pleased to make your acquiantance, Simon. Do you play (duh?) maybe you could tell us something about you, for the benefit of the new ones.
But personally, if you have the time and it is not too intrusive a question, i am keenly curious about why you decided to start and support this Forum. Behind a gratuitous, disinterested good-will deed, there is inevitably a great person. And it is a magnificent deed that works wonders everyday, really, you have attracted a serious group of talented gentlemen & ladies here (which begs the Q. how do I fit here, again?)
edit: added "& ladies", to the sentence "a group of talented gents".

Hi Simon,
Congratulations on your marriage. Harold and I send lots of love and good wishes to you and baby Carrot. I guess River was the best dog ! Glad to hear you are riding out the recession and still have your job. Life is tougher than ever here in Andalucia.
Thanks as well for keeping the forum together this year. We've talked about it and everyone was willing and think now is the time to have that donate button for members to help out with expenses. We could donate straight to a flamenco forum paypal account and hopefully cover all costs. It does not seem fair that this is all down to you when we all enjoy the forum so much.
What do you all say forereros ?? It's donation time !!

Congratulations on the Marriage!
Glad to hear that you got to keep your job. I finally got round to ordering El Guitarrero.. long overdue! It's been on my list since it came out, but my finances have been sort of... bohemian.. since even before the crisis. Really looking forward to it now.
