Anybody know Carmen de las Cuevas flamenco school ? Or do you now greats address in Andalucia Malaga Sevilla ? The objective it's to focus in dance/cante accompanment.
I know I keep banging on about Juan Antonio in Fuengirola, but he really is the most charismatic flamenco I’ve ever had the pleasure to come across and his musicians are fantastic. Last year Juan achieved his lifetime ambition and opened his own school and theatre As well as perfoming and teaching flamenco dance, he also runs cante and guitar courses and regularly brings all students together. It’s well worth contacting him, although if you phone, no English is spoken - you’d have to communicate in Spanish.
I’m not sure of the name of the guitarist who teaches, but the last cante course was delivered by Victoria Gomez – a very well known Singer in the Malaga area. I’ve posted a temporary link at this page showing Juan demonstrating some Fandango he’d been teaching so that one of the cante students could try it out on her first “public” outing.
If you’re interested in knowing more, a friend of mine will be seeing Juan in January and I could ask her to get all course details for you. Let me know if you’d like me to ask her.
