Hairy Treble Strings!! urgh!
Hey guys,
I recently started using high tension Hannabach flamenco strings and after a few weeks playing the trebles begin to fray and tiny strands of the nylon start appearing on the strings. while I don't really think it affects the sound or my playing, it does look rather unpleasant.
does anyone else get this with their strings?? Ive never had it with any other brands!

The exact same thing happend to my hannabach medium tension didn´t like them att all...my humble opinion was that the quality was really poor compared to other brands i tried.

i've had this when i used them for a long time, but they never broke nor did it affect the sound...i've tried many brands and for me (and my guitar) hannabach high tension is the best (in the paper box, the blue one, if that's what you're referring to)...

Stu, I've never had that happen to my Hannabach's. I use Hannabach M.T. treb's and used to use M.T. basses but switched to Labella 2001 M.T. basses. I like the sound of the Hannabach trebs but found the basses didn't last very long so I tried various brands and discovered that I prefer the Labella basses. I will be doing one more test and changing basses to Labella 820's and see how I like those compared to the 2001's. My 2001 basses have lasted over 6 weeks with no issues and they still sound decent and I play approx 1-2 hours per day. I can't say why your treb's would be getting frayed but perhaps could your nails be causing the issues? Sig--

I had this happen to a set of La Bella's once, that I bought from a guitar shop. My assumption based on the out of date print of the package compared to what I normally buy on line, was that the strings were very very very OLD. Not sure if it was the same for you , or humidity was a factor, but it not just the brand. IMO. Any way, never before or since with any brand, I think those string were "expired".
