Encarna Anillo videos

Hey, guys and gals,

I just tubed these videos of Encarna Anillo, the singer for whom Flamenco-World has recently produced an album. I think she is also endorsed/supported by Carmen Linares, and maybe you can hear some similarities. Here she is with Juan Diego, por alegrias y por milongas:

enjoy,

Con

Yes, I certainly can. She sounds a bit younger and lighter (and without the coughing )
Nice stuff, thanks, Rad!

Under the related links you can hear her sing bulerias with some friends and relations. In a odd coincidence considering our parallel discussion of Potito, it seems this group are followers of Maharaji. Haven't heard of him for a long time.
Is it only a matter of time before some anthropologist writes a paper on New Religious Movements in Flamenco. What's going on?

Encarnita was dating Carmen's son for a time, and Carmen was promoting her, but the relationship ended some time ago.

Ya, I agree, Estevan.

Well, I guess you have to believe in something, unless you're a nihilist. And that's too exhausting.

Thanks, Estela, ya, I guess her son was Encarna's guitarist, right? I don't know. I just read Flamenco-World and DeFlamenco in English, doing my best in futility to keep up with things, not as if it's that important.

It is amazing though... it seems that you can connect most flamencos in Andalucia through 1 or 2 degrees of separation, based on the articles we read. Very cool, all the ever-changing collaboration between guitarists, singers, dancers, clappers.

The last time I saw Encarnita was last month in the Festival de Jerez - her guitarist was Juan Diego, and someone else who was behind a column. But the boyfriend wasn't the guitarist son, it was a younger one.

Record companies no longer record "cante + guitar", and performances are geared to recordings. Used to be, for example, Sabicas would give a concert. Period. Now, a guitar recital is announced by the name of the record that contains the themes the musician is going to play. Everything is constructed around "works", for dancers and singers as well, like rock groups. It may seem like an unimportant difference, but the result is few surprises, and you don't get to see some very fine artists who may not have recorded, or don't have funding to mount a large group.
