Good luck with that Henry! Let me know how it goes. Did you ever check out that Paco Arrastro teacher or whatever his name is?

well it came off very well, i was very happy with it overall. hopefully i'll put some vids up on youtube once i receive a copy of the video from the people in the university music centre. to get some critique back from you guys, the dancer was smashing i was really happy as the show was for her to showcase her skills and hopefully get a job doing a flamenco course running in our university.

i was asked on the 13th hour to do a solea as a filler for 3-4 mins, everything was going great until the last falseta when someone in the crowd let out an enormous cough and it threw me on the compas and i rushed it to recover ground and ended the piece very quickly thereafter.

i was a little bit peeved but heh thats the way the cookie or falseta crumbles

You really look the part Henry! Look forward to some vids.

I love the way you are concentrating on what the dancer is doing.

At the last London Pena, Tito Heredia was playing. He was fantastic in his own right, but I've never seen a guitarist be so focussed on the dancers and what they were doing. It was like he was totally there for them.

Hmmmm I know you solo guitarist guys may not approve of that, but he was damn good.

Id have to say my compas has gotten alot better as i a result of this, plus tis given a better insight into what is required for dance.i think ive got a better grasp than i did before for the phrasing involved for the dance.

Good pics man!! well done with the gig. I love that dress she's got on!

Ailsa, I've seen Tito play a couple of times he's great!! Love the tash too.
Infact when I first started playing I saw him perform at Costa Dorada on Oxford Street. I approached his table afterwards and congratulated him on his show and told him I was learning Flamenco guitar (hoping for a few words of advice). I told him I was learning from a book at the moment..
His words...... "throw your books away, Play from your heart" and he knocked back another tequila. Perfect!!

Very cool Henry. I was wondering how it turned out. What were you staring at in pic 3 of the second set?
is there any video of the show?

staring at her feet, the only way i learned how to follow was by listening and watching the feet. i found if you're trying to follow the whole body ie with the arm movements and the body turns it makes it very confusing ie i needed to hear the 1 2 3 and a 4 and a 5 of the compas. i think in that part she was doing the footwork sin toque, and she was doing 6 cycles so i was counting out in my head when to come bakc in to the piece.

re the vid should have it sometime over the next week.

Enjoyed the vid Ricardo. Had a look at the Sevillanas one too - interesting to see it done as a solo - nice moves.
