hope u in the mood for a litlle racial relations pointless story.. but i still feel like telling somebody
This guitarrist approched me, nice enough, good guitarist from Spain, has traveled to Japan etc...
I might have overpainted the flamenco scene in Adelaide but thats just pride in our own litlle flamenco scene and trying to paint it for what i want it to be and not what it necesarely always is, because i get the impression this guy thinks its like a litlle Andalucia here, i tried to explain how things are here, ok but nothing like hes imagining.
Anyway since he contacted me a month ago, every day i got an email from him, "is there an oportunity to give worshops there ?" I said i dont know, mibe, i can ask my dance schools, they always have dancers worshops mibe they would be interested..
I for one would have loved to do a workshop with him.
but the reality is that theres not enough guitarists here to make it his worthwhile, mibe we could scrap togheder 5 or 6, and the dance teachers said' All the flamencos we get to teach here, we get because they are here anyway, there's no point paying $3000 airfair, when good flamenco artists travel here every year anyway at theyr own cost, and all we have to pay for is teaching, i mean its just good bussines, makes sence to me.
But this guy sent me an email everyday, resume, asking me the same question everyday, which is fine but eventualy starts to get a litlle tiering, ( i am not the decision maker here, and if i dont replie i feel rude) So everyday i am having to think of new polite ways of explaining to him the same thing. SO anyway one day he sends me his track of him live in Japan, (wich was great, hes a good guitarist)
then asks if i can send him something with digeridoo, so i send him this track an australian flamenco group using digerrido, i tghout it will be a nice surrprise to him, not only what he asked for but used in something familliar to him, tghout he might get a kick out of it.
But he replies back , oh no i meant Australian ethnic music, at some point i mentioned that i am romanian, and that i am more familliar with flamenco/pop, romanian, other music then i am with Australian ethnic music, if there is such a thing and i dont have any albums of Aboriginals chanting ( not because they are aboriginals but simpli because i dont like it, so i dont buy cds i dont listen to), i explained this politely but i knew what i was doing, i wanted it out there that i am romanian .
the second i mentioined i am romanian, it went from 1 to 2 emails every single day to now nothing for the last 3 weeks lol.
I cant help it he despizes my people , he despizes my people what can i do
so the point of the story is, if you are in Spain and a gipsy sticks a knife to your neck and asks for your money, tell em you Romanian
If in Spain a Romanian gipsy sticks a knife to your kneck and askes for your money...give double because hes got twice as much problems
just joking, really i dont know what to make of this, and people are to old to be stupid enough to judge someone because of place of birth, and i dont care enough to wanna convince him that i or my mom or millions of others are ok, or if someone is going to be that stupid i cant be fuc*ed with them..
really the only way i can deal with this types of things is with houmor because if you take it too seriously it saddens you, the way i see it u got 2 choices, allow it to upset you and become a victim or make a joke of it truly showing that you are superior mentaly and make him feel stupid.
Its fair enough to hate someone that has done you wrong (if thats how u wanna deal with it) but i dont fuc*ing know him
excuse the colorfull language and the pretty pointless story but i use it as accents to hilight certain emotions and sometimes theres just no substitute for the word fu*k and for some reason i wanted to say my toughts out loud.
Why would a spaniard have a particular dislike for romanians...... ...Maybe his computer broke, Maybe his internet is down, Maybe he is sick, Maybe he is on holiday, ...Maybe he's dead?
Scotlands national poet burns has a saying " a mans a man for a that" meaning no matter a mans colour race wealth etc it makes ultimatly no difference we live breath and die in the same earth what others think or do on the way is their attitude and shouldnt trouble us no worries mate!!!
I dont wanna make a big deal about it, anyone who knows me knows that i dont like to complain
people just need a litlle more understanding and awarenes, thats all.
next time a romanian robbs you , dont just assume hes bad cause hes romanian, strike up a conversation, try to find out a litlle about his culture before you pass judgement, you will find us very hospitable, friendly , nonjudgemental people. dont be rude, theres no need for that.
Next time a Romanian robs you strike up a conversation? I love that!
Have you seen the movie Crash? There is a funny scene with these two black fellows talking about how all these white folks are scared of them because they are probably robbers - and they take offence to that. Then after all that they pull out their guns! A decent movie exploring the concept of racism, you should check it out.
Agreed discrimination has got to stop. I live in a multicultural city and there is discrimination and stereotypes on all sides. It is not only a white person problem, we just carry all the guilt, that's all.

I agree theres racism on all sides, but the guilt thing is not the kind of statement anyone race should go around making because it dosent help the issue any, even if by some chance it is true, it just creates further separation. I think we will never fix the stereotypical , racism problem compleatly, but if one was to attmept, focusing on our similarities has a better chance than focusing on our differences.
felling gulty about it dosent make it any less lol everyone is equaly wrong
What you are not pure australian??? No wonder you dont' get any of my jokes from aussie movies!
Seriously, sounds like the guy was desperate for work, and while constantly pressing you about it, he found another gig. No worries, probably nothing personal at all. You will probably hear from him again when he needs money.
you didnt make any aussie movies jokes ...did you ?
no i live here, and consider myself as much australian as romanian, but i was born there, spent most of my life here thow.
I know that is why i have made a joke of it and i am prepared for the eventuality that i am wrong, i am not 100 % decided this is the reason
but the thing is , i see him online everyday still so thats kind of made me think its a litlle odd, from 2 emails daily to absoluteley nothing, straight after the email where i mention i am Romanian. And my best friend here is Spanish, he speaks to his mom there every day, i been told of some of the feeling towards romanians (not everybody, just some simple minded folk) trough her. so i put 2 and 2 togheder and this is why i arrived at this conclusion mibe.
the truth is , that i told him i was romanian on purpose because i knew theres a chance that he will react this way, and i was starting to get a hedaiche from him.
i was happy at first and then i tghout about it .........pri*k
Flo is there some way of telling him youre not actually romanian, i dont know like it was a spelling mistake or a joke or something?? then see if he does a U turn. Or perhaps tell him there may be some work fro him after all.
The only "puro" things in Oz are the Kangaroos and the Abbos surely? Flo...get yourself a cordobés Flamenco dancer's hat and put dangly corks on it and send him a picture.
cheers,
Ron

sorry guys i didnt mean for this to sound like a big thing, truth is i only casually care i am not that worryed about it, but i do apreciate your support.
if anything i just used the situation to get my jokes out, more important
Manzmann
I tghout about that then realised that its not that important to put that much effort in finding out something is not that important to me.
