What is the historical link between Kung Fu and flamenco dance.? After watching the Matrix for the upteenth time, there are many similarities. That proud look on ones face, with the chin up etc. Paco Picado

Actually, Zorro, early in the 3rd century AD, the two mixed heavily during the Great Chinese-Gitano Wars. During the Second Chinese-Gitano War in particular, at night after the battles were done, the two camps would send their greatest performers--the gitanos their flamenco dancers, and the Chinese their kung-fu fighters--to the enemies' camp, to strike fear in the other sides' hearts. Inevitably, there was some mixing in styles and techniques.

er....??......well they are both art forms...... And therefore any similarities will stem from that i suppose. Maybe google and see.....historical links?? I think the only historical links were outlined perfectly by ramparts.

Huge similarities in the movements. I did 4 years of Wing Tsun Kung Fu and can copy a lot of the movements. I think it's because both base the movements (as far as I can see though I'm not a dancer) on basic circular motions. I don't think they ever met at any point.
You have a lot of the elbow like at 0:19 and the twisting wrist for example at 0:29, which looks really similar when done with a bent elbow outward. I recognize the moving from left to right a bit as well. I don't know if non-kung-fu people can see it from this.
And if you ask what these whacky movements are good for, , it gets fun to watch starting at about 2:10. I know the two guys in red to be able to kick much butt. Granted the other guy's bigger, it has nothing to do with strength though, all technique.

Well of course they can both trace their roots to ancient India, so there must be a connection!
But really...the obvious connection that comes to mind for me is that certain flamenco masters are reminiscent of certain kung fu masters when they try to look serious...
