I would buy it, only if I play like him after using it!

Hmm, does it simply go "tick tick tick" evenly at different speeds? That is all you need a metronome to do, and if you can't play to just "tick tick" than all those other special options are actually hurting your time, not helping.

Herrero is a strange person. He plays good and I see his methods are flooding the onlinestores..but never heared about him as guitarrist. Just allways as teacher and author of many learning material.

After being down the Flamenco Metronome road myself....
All I can say is I would only purchase one with a PdL signature inside.

cheers,

Ron

Herrero won prizes in Jerez and La Union, I think when he was about 17. Apparently he had a few operations so he devotes more time in teaching. One of his disadvantages is that he is not from Andalucia. I found his 3 basis DVDs very helpful although the booklets are not of super quality.

I have been collecting loops and using my MP3 player as a metronome. It does everything that this metronome boasts and cost me just twenty quid. It plays from 50 to 150 percent of the speed of the original loop with eight gradations which is just enough. Used with headphones there is plenty of volume no matter how much I strum.

Surely some of you guys are doing this too ?

D.

PS if anyone there is convinced that they need a dedicated flamenco metronome then I can put stickers on my MP3 write Flamenco Metronome in magic marker and ship it to you for a modest £110.

Good idea David!

At the moment, I still use the Flamenco Master program to work out some "awkward" bits, mainly as an analyzer rather than a metronome.
If I've got to go on a train or a bus, then I just take my desktop computer and a 300 Watt Inverter and a car battery with me. No prob.
And it sure upsets those mobile phone yakkers too.

cheers,

Ron

Here is What I have done for all kinds of music:

Downloaded the free flamenco metronome on this site

Or
1. Get an mp3 or mov file from anywhere: pull it off youtube by using this site: http://vixy.net/
2. Load it Quicktime and go->Window->Show A/V
3. Slow the song down without adjusting pitch and play along then slowly increase tempo.
4. you can also loop sections of the file.

Or I use the Korg pocket metronome -- tap / tick / tick /

If you just need various beats -- there are lots of drummers that work for beer.

CANTE - If you want to make sure that your singing is in time, you will easily achieve this.

That's all well and good, but I want one that makes sure my singing is in tune

Hi,

I am new here but let me already reply to this one.
Graf Martinez offers a software version of a flamenco metronome for about 25 $
www.graf-martinez.com/flamenco-metronome.html

Personally i just keep on using my normal metronome.
Once i have got the compas in my system and when counting on a slow speed goes okay i just quit checking every single beat and speed up everyting and only check for example beat 6 and 12 in a buleria. With Solea i still can use the metronome on a normal speed but i with buleria this just doesn't work for me...maybe some more practice...

:-)

+ loops are much more fun to listen at. Plenty of loops on the foro and with audiocity I can slow them down to whatever speed I want. As easy as that.

I'll sell you Ron's for $20, bargain.

Anyway why not try this site, lots of great bargains here.

oneborneveryminute@whitelephant.com

It has on offer the new improved flamenco oath of allegiance;

(SAMPLE) Do you renounce classical and all of its easthetics....etc.

So why not send the moron in your life to whitelephant.com. Loads of great stuff that is available totally free elsewhere and doesn't really work... at all. For people who simply must throw their money away.

Also available, for the first time on a home computer..........Solitaire, only $25 !!!

This is a great tool for beginners to learn compás with less the headache or for advanced guitarists to count out fast or complex falsetas. The clock is right in your face, you can take in visually where you are without having to count along, speed goes up to 260bpm and you can make the accents louder. This is definitely worth the money.

As for the other thing... if you can really program complex, professional sounding sequences to fit exactly to what you want and you think you'll never in your life ever meet a palmero or cajón player to collaberate with... then why even practise with it?

Just kidding, but really if you want something professional you should get computer software to record and create your own loops - it's a lot cheaper, I'm sure Todd could suggest something good. If you want something for practise this is way too expensive and complicated.

I don't have any experience of mp3 players, so can anyone tell me this.

Can I get a reasonably inexpensive mp3 player which I can load stuff into and slow down without change of pitch?

Can I change the pitch independently of speed?

Can you "loop" sections of it?

Do they come with inbuilt mics and/or a "line input" to record short snatches of stuff and do the same? (Quality unimportant).

cheers,

Ron

Ron,

This is not an MP3 player per-say, but does an outstanding job.

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Tascam-CDGT1mkII-Portable-CD-Guitar-Trainer?sku=241255&src=3SOSWXXA

I use mine all the time for slowing down CD's and loops. I don't like to set in front of a computer when I practice so this does a great job. When you slow it down, I find the quality of sound better than the software versions.

What I do is just burn a bunch of loops onto a single CD and play it in this unit. I even have a bunch of your stuff off Flamenco Master. If it's a loop with a lot of reverb it doesn't sound so good slowed down. It also plays MP3 CD's

If mine broke today, I'd have a new one tomorrow.

Ron, everything except controlling the pitch. The two I have used keep the original pitch after slowing the speed down or speeding up.

Should get one in tesco's for about 20 quid.

RE: Oscar Herreros Metronome! (in reply to Arash

I have a clock on the wall here in the room that I like to play in that goes tick tock tick tock. It affects my playing to a large degree and especially when I am composing. But, it is so soothing when I am not playing music that I leave it up.
I have got to take it down when I play and put it somewhere other than here in the room. I have got to start taking it out of the room! Flamenco Metronome eh?
