Anyone know the dates of the Feria De Jerez? I need another fix
Hi Simon:
Last year I was there on June 2 and 3, so it'll be around then. The Festival de Córdoba will actually precede it, starting April 25 and ending May 5 and the feria de Sevilla starts April 27, ending May 2.
Ferias and festivals are completely different, it depends on what you're looking for. Ferias take a lot of time and money...you wander around the fair grounds for hours watching people line up for rides, eating junk food because there's nothing else to do, hanging around empty casetas because you heard there was going to be some flamenco and then it turns out to be sevillanas...flamenco stuff tends to start very late, you might not find anything until 5 or 6 in the morning, if at all. Festivals are nice because you can pace yourself, see a couple of decent shows, have proper meals, meet up with friends...
I'm definitely going to the Festival de Córdoba, but haven't decided about the ferias of Jerez or Sevilla. Ferias aren't flamenco events, festivals are.
Any info on the Festival de Córdoba? This is not the Guitar Festival which is in July right?
Definitely NOT the guitar festival in July. The flamenco contest and festival is only held every three years and is an important flamenco event, begun in 1956 I think.
The Feria del Caballo de Jerez is from the 9 till the 15 of May. Estela is right in the sense that if you are looking for flamenco you are hardly going to find it during the feria as everybody will be there drinking and dancing sevillanas. But it is great fun and worth seeing if you have never been there.

Simon I thought you would be in rehabilitation after the big overdosis of flamenco. Emma was here yesterday and showed me her new guitar. Very nice sound, it made my guitar sound like a tin.
Simon great fun during the festival. I can not wait to see the fotos and videos. I think that the First meeting of Foro Flamenco was a success.

It was great to meet all of you in Jerez and be able to put names to faces. I am glad too that at last someone has taken my advice to buy a guitar from Rafael: I have been playing one for years.
Hi Sean great to see you in Jerez at the pena cernicalos. I played my guitar next to John's student Manual Reyes and the MR sounds dead next to it. I am v pleased.
