RE: Paco de Lucia guitars (in reply to Yes)

Although I have not played either of these 2 models within the Paco de Lucia range, I have played others. They are fantastic instruments. Highly recommended. Instead of posting meaningless forum banter, I suggest people respond with what they *know* and not what they speculate. There is quite enough nonsense online, thanks... Where although it may seem strange the idea of a player on an instrument, I have gotten past it. it would appear vain, or similar in frame of mind as what has been posted above, etc. But I suggest playing one prior to making the obvious comments.... Paco certainly doesn't need the money. I recall reading within an interview with him at his home in Mexico recently this "signature" series. He stated too, " I certainly am not doing it for the money....I feel I can bring something special and different to the instrument." He is doing it with his brother. They apparently oversee the instruments themselves, or rather, his brother visits momnthly (so I read) to check quality etc. Above all, I *do* know that the instruments are made by luthier Vicente Carrillo, a very well respected luthier who makes impeccable instruments. Aesthetically and in terms of sound qualities. He above all shines in his Flamenco work. The interior of an instrument is just as important as the exterior. His instruments are very well made and his prices are rising due to his recognition in this regard. As they are made be Carrillo, well, they can place "Mickey Mouse" on the label if the sound and quality of the instrument are there. Asking "should I buy one?" is a foolish question. I suggest, as anyone should, you play them and forget all names. Choose what sounds best to *you*. If you don't have experience, have your teacher choose for you. Post what you find and choose. Best wishes.

alrighty mr. world-traveler-expatriate falsetanuova, you're overlooking the obvious problem here: where the hell do you find a pdl guitar to try out? look at his forum handle : Yes. do ya think maybe he's a fan of the band yes and new to this whole flamenco thing? you think maybe he lives in america, where flamenco guitars are about as easy to find as honest politicians? perhaps instead of quote:
Asking "should I buy one?" is a foolish question. you should take into account how foolish it is to waltz in here guns ablazing and insult some of the most knowledgable people around. not only that, you also insulted Yes for asking an honest question. you and I are both new here. I suggest you keep your head down. A little respect for the honest opinions of others wouldn't hurt. quote:
They are fantastic instruments. Highly recommended. Instead of posting meaningless forum banter, I suggest people respond with what they *know* and not what they speculate. and you know alll about vicente carrillo, you go way back, best buddies since the womb. yep, you've played hundreds of his guitars, all of them gems. not an ounce of speculation here, all solid fact based on real first hand account. lMan, if he didnt want people's opinions about which guitar to buy, he wouldn't have asked. there's probably not a whole lot of pdl guitars owned by foro members out there. and since when did the opinion of a long time guitar player, and adamant pursuer of flamenco become entirely speculation? if you don't like banter, tough cookies mate. you'd better try another foro.

Hola ("It's quite simple :You saved money to buy a good guitar. Now you're planning to spend a part of it to buy Paco's signature.") When these guitars were presented in Sevilla, I spent part of an afternoon with Ramon de Algeciras trying the whole range. They are good, well made guitars and can be bought with confidence. However I did not feel moved to buy one: in my opinion, Ricardo Sanchis e Hijos offer guitars which I prefer for less money. However, opiniones are only opinions: there is no substitute for trying first, everybody has a different point of view. Suerte Sean
