"Cry of The Guitar"
Any body seen this documentary. Its doing the rounds on the "Living in Spain" channel on Sky TV.
Its about David Dunlop, a Scottish Flamenco guitarist living in Spain, known as the Captain. Perhaps some of you even know this guy?
To be honest the film was pretty lame. Poor camera work, strange editing techniques, but obviously, the subject matter, and a few pretty good moments kept me involved til the end.
Is the the prog about the guy they were saying "lives the life of a gypsy", or something like that? I saw the second half of it, and yeah it was a bit lame. Like you I stuck with it in the hope something interesting would appear!
Yeah I think thats it. To be fair there were a few pretty magical moments, like when he was playin in some bar and one of a group of youngsters began to sing with him and they were comparing him to a young camaron (very raw) and a little bit where he played for a dancer. She was very cool and you could see how she was really into the music. but it was all presented very poorly. The effects they used when the guy was singing made me feel a bit giddy.
I felt like hitting the Prozac at the end of it. The guy could hardly play and the journalist knew precious little about flamenco. Stephen Hill documentary is far more inspiring.
I'll keep my eyes open for that doco stephen. will it be shown regularly like that cry of the guitar?? whats it called??
@d.eduardo: I'm glad he's better looking than that Dunlop fella. The filmaker spent the first 15 mins of the film painting this romantic picture of some mystery man full of passion and charisma..... and when you finally meet him he can barely stand up!!!
