I am new to this forum and wish to have an opinion concerning my next purchase. I am looking to buy a good blanca and my budget would be around $4000-$5000. I have heard many great things concerning Anders' guitars and am seriously considering them. I have however also heard that Kenny Hill builds an exact replica of a 2003 Manuel Reyes blanca that sells for around the same price as an Eliasson. I am more than conscious that a 'replica' is not the real thing and that it is often a better idea to go for something that is original and specific to the luthier instead of being a copy, but I cannot help to wonder how similar (or different) would the Hill 'Reyes' be from the original ones. Also, does anyone here have any experience with both Anders Eliasson and Kenny Hill? Both being builders with steller reputations I know that this might be an inappropraite question, but which guitar would be better?

Best thing to do. Is to find a way to try their guitars yourself, and see how they each speak to you. I am 100% certain that those that have either of these guys guitars are very pleased with them. So if you have 2 good guitars, you have to try them each and see which one you like more. And it will be a matter of personal preference then, not that any one was better than the other.

I would strongly recommend an Eliasson guitar, I own two and my friend owns one Eliasson blanca. These are great instruments. The fact that somebody does make an exact replica of a famous guitar to me is not enough: it may turn out great but it may be a crap. A builder must understand the whole system in order to make great instruments. A good/exact plan of a great instrument is just a part of the whole thing. The bottom line is that I don't really care what plan is used for a guitar, I really care about how it sounds and Anders' instruments sound great.

Both are great luthiers so its difficult to choose. Suggest you try before you buy( if you can ) you can spend lots and find it may not be the sound, size etc you want
