Saddle for Flamenco

hello experts,

I have a classical "Lapatrie" (Canada) and try to play it for Flamenco.
The strings are too far from the fingerboard - 5mm for the 6th string at the 12th fret -
So I think about planing down (filing) about 1mm the saddle from the lower side - see picture -
1. What do you think about this idea ?
2. Is a good guitar sold with only one saddle ? Why (versatility...) ?

1. Yes sounds like the best thing to do. Here's something to help:

2. When you buy a "good" guitar, the luthier (guitar-maker) can adjust the saddle to suit your individual requirements. Its not that hard to do, actually. Flamenco players generally favour a low action, so there is not always much need to change saddles very often. Btw, a "saddle" only costs a couple of pounds/dollars, so if you want to buy spare ones, its no big deal.

Do you know why this saddle has like a "step" on the 3rd string ? Why isn't it continuous like others ?

PS: the brazil flag brings even more emotion to the playing ;-)

I just went through the same thing with the same guitar. Easily done, just go slow and steady.

btw I put the new T2 trebles on the LaPatrie to brighten the tone some, they worked very well.

1. Yes, I ll go for 1mm first.

2. T2 trebles and what for the basses ??
Is there a difference in the basses between D'ADDARIO EJ45 and EJ45C
