Intonation problem - need advice.

I recently noticed that I now have an intonation problem on my guitar (1st string sounds 1/8th of the tone flatter after the 10th fret).
New strings doesn't solve the problem. Action is very low (2.5mm lower E, 2.1mm - 1st string). Should I raise the action a little bit with a new bone? Other suggestions?

Hmm, thats tricky seeing as it has developed recently. The string length is too long at the moment, that is if you have tried lots of first strings to really see if it isnt the string.
Have a look at the saddle to see the profile and if it is cut back alot from the front. If it is then you can bring the edge forward to shorten the string length but this will of course lower the action further so best put a new bone in and raise the first to 2.2and the string coming off right from the front. dont make it too sharp tho.

Thanks Stephen, problem is now solved - it was bad new string (black La Bella).
I don't change trebles often (maybe once in 3 months) and recently I changed them, then I noticed that 1st sounds flatter and I thought that the reason could not be the string because it is brand new..

I was getting a REALLY 'tinny' (metal) sound from my Reyes copy, and I was really getting bummed. I was using the Savarez Corums, which everyone raves about, but.....

I was going to be writing a review on a newer-to-market string from Aquila called 'Alabastro', for Strings By Mail, and posting here, as I see how long they play and wear, etc.

So far, a VERY nice string. No more metalic twang on the A & D strings when played 3rd or 4th position. Much more of Spanish, 'woody' sound, rich and full. I'm really liking these......and a good price, too.

I say always start simple. Change to another string BEFORE shaving saddles, etc., then proceed.
