Corum's for $3.00 per set!

Well, not really, but I got your attention!

In my quest for the Holly Grail, I ran across a true bargain. I happen to stumble onto a string outlet called Webstrings. I had been hearing good things about the acoustic guitar stings they sell. They list Classical strings for $3.10 per set US and if you buy 24 sets it comes down to $2.60 postage paid!

I figured, “what the heck”, I’ll give them a shot. They have a $12.00 minimum order, so I got two sets of mediums and two highs. I had them at my door in about two days. A few days ago I put a set of mediums on my Ramirez and could tell that I might be onto something good. I had a fairly fresh set of Corum basses and Cristal trebles on it. To be honest, I couldn’t tell much difference from the Corum’s! The trebles are crystal clear, while not being abrasive. The basses have a nice edge to them just like Corum’s.

Not being fully convinced, I put a set of Highs on my Shelton a couple of days ago. Same result. If you like D’Addario EJ’s or Corum’s, I think you will be very impressed at half to one third the price. I was also very impressed how fast they settled in. They were settled in a couple of hours. They also ship worldwide at only an additional 15%.

Here’s the site. www.webstrings.com

Pat,
I might give this outfit a try, as strings are an atrocious price here in the UK.
Even with Customs Duty payable they would still work out at a fraction of strings by Savarez etc.
I seem to recall a post where somebody (I think it was yourself) bought a bulk order of strings that were sold by the yard. Whatever happened to them?

cheers

Ron

Ron I think Patrick ended up using those as wire for his clothsline.

Ron,

Still got em, you want em? I can't bring myself to toss them, although I don't know why.

I agree, even after duty, they still have to be dirt cheap. I can go through a set of basses in a couple of weeks. At this price I don't feel guilty changing them.

Tom;

I thought Ron used them for fly fishing!
