Ok guys. After much lloking a think I find something suitable for you. It is not as cheap as I thought in the first instance as the festival is getting very popular and everyone wants to take advantage. Tomorrow I am going to see a flat with four rooms ( 1 double and 3 singles) although in one of the singles there are two beds. The landlord wants 60 euros per day for the flat (40 pounds) so if 4 or 5 people shared the house it would be very cheap. So far I know Fergus and his girlfriend and Simon are coming. I think Jim Opfer as well. Anybody else? I need to tell the landlord FOR SURE how many people and for how long they are going to stay in the flat.
I am really excited. I think we are going to have a good time there. Ok guys can you confirm you are coming and wich dates?
Un saludo
Melchor

ok guys is up to you now! I went to see the flat. It is quite big, even 8 people could sleep there and is walking distance from the town center. It is up to you to say yes and give a small deposit. If we don´t do it soon somebody else can take the flat. So far only Simon has told me he is coming. I would like to sort this out before I come back to England.
Un saludo
Melchor

Melchor, Eres el supremo!! Yes I'm coming with Wafa, we arrive 28th feb and leave 13th March. Flights are booked!!! My mum and sister have shown interest, but they will only come for a few days not for the two week like me. So if we need to make up numbers I can put the word out!! Gracias por todo Fergus

You're on. Depends on whether Melchor goes for it without enough to fill the flat Hey, Melchor what's the latest? Shall we draw the line at the end of this week and book hotels?
I am happy to pay a little more to get the apartment for a week.
RE: Festival jerez accommodation (in reply to Melchor)
Sorry guys I haven't had access to a computer for a week. I have confirmed the accommodation in Jerez but Simon I thought you got the price wrong. It is only 40 pounds per day for the whole flat not per person. So you can fill the flat with as many people as you want. The landlady had another offer but she just waited for my confirmation. No deposit is needed she just got my word. So party at Simon's!!!
Un saludo
Melchor

I'll be there. Dont know if I can make it for the whole two weeks, depends what is happening in Grana' but I want to catch Farruquito if there are any tickets left. So it would be the first part of the festival. Good news about the apartment. Can I book me a single room ? The likelihood of Harold getting there is nil as he is finishing Emilio's album and starting on Marina Heredia's next album at the end of the month as well as various other ongoing projects.

Melchor, Been away for a while and just seen your post. No, I won't be free to come over, it's a real pitty, the flat sounds great. I got talked into a family holiday in Torremo! in April. Have a great time. Jim.

Well I just got hold of a ticket for Farruquito on the 4th and emilio thinks he is playing on the 28th ( I'll see him later as he's playing the Peña so will find out where he plays and who with and the exact date) so definitely between the 28th and 4th and maybe longer. I'll probably travel down with Emilio. Oops phone is ringing gotta go

I will be there on the 28th so will be expecting you. Confirm mobile phone numbers by email.
Definitely like to see Emilio at a Peña - good call. See ya'

Jim I am very sorry you can not do it for the festival. I amvery sorry as well that you are going to Torremolinos. I have night stops in Torremolinos and I think it is horrible. I recommend Puerto de Santa Maria in Cadiz. The beaches there are more beautiful than in Malaga with white sand not black. It is only 10 minutes from Jerez which gives you the chance to see some flamenco as well. Un saludo
Melchor

I may have a spare ticket for Farruquito if anyone wants one and finds it has sold out. I reserved one via telentrada.com when I saw how fast tickets were going but a nice man from Jerez called Melchor also got me one.
Having said that, if you chose rubbish seats Chori I might just go straight back to the front of the Teatre and gawp at the the nice young man from Seville.

Oh yes please if its a good seat I'll buy it. I got one for 9€ ( one of the last) but am stuck at the back to the side and no doubt behind either a pillar or a lady with a large hat. So if its going spare I'd be delighted.
Looking forward to this get together, should be fun. Isn't it funny there are only 3 women on this forum ( as far as I know) and yet we are all going. LOL Go girls !!!
RE: Festival jerez accommodation (in reply to Melchor)
Hi Kate,
Yes it's great that we are all going - the two of have a lot more experience than me. But I reckon if it's experience i need i may as well get it in Jere'!
I just saw Farruquito for first time in Barcelona and my mate got us all abysmal tickets one row from the back. NICE ONE COLIN!!! we all said. So hopefully this time I will actually get to see him! I think i have to go and pick the ticket up on the day with my credit card. I reserved some others too but no doubt i'll end up at something nearly every night and spending a fortune! Which is nice...
How exciting!

Simon, Melchor, Fergus and Kate:
Above mentioned "nice one" colin is coming down to jerez from 6th - 10th March, and his girlfriend Rene will be down over the weekend. They would love to hook up and i was hoping you would have space for them.
They are both lovely and if you need more persuading Rene is native of Barcelona and can produce a lovely authentic tortilla.
Do say yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Find by me, if we have space.
We have Fergus and his girlfriend in one room, me in another, Kate in another and Fergus has a friend coming down the second week so that's one room free during the first week. Melchor is staying with his folks.
Not sure whether Kate is staying on 'til the 10th.
You could send her a private message or email her from this forum to find out.

I'm not sure either yet. I was going to come for the first night to see Mario Maya as Emilio was going to be playing but in fact it turns out that another friend the guitarist Marcos is to play instead. I still haven't decided exactly when I'm going get there. I've got a ticket for Farruquito so will definitely be there for that and just see how it goes. Very vague I know :)

When is Farruquito?
It's the 4th Thursday. I think Emma may have a spare ticket. Amazing I just went to the url for the festival to check the dates and they have absolutely no information at all. I'm off tomorrow for a week in London, popping down to Brighton to meet with some flamenco people as well and hopefully getting some gigs sorted out for the Granada artists we work with.
Looking forward to Jerez. The weather here has been fantastic so hopefuly it wil continue.
Isn't Farruiquito also playing in London next week?
RE: Festival jerez accommodation (in reply to El Craic)
well then i think its a case of if fergus says yes then hopefully you'll find room if everyone is game for squashing. They live in an Alice in Wonderland size flat in Barcelona anyway. I still have a crook in my neck and i think they still have the days of my visit still chalked up on their cell i mean wall.
Kate i do have a ticket for farruquito but have to collect, it's just reserved. The official festival website has failed everytime i've tried it. telendrada.com seems to be the best bet for tickets and seats available, and the familiar flamenco-world or the other jobbie deflamenco for programme info. Your vagueness is endearingly spanish. I'm not so hot on schedules myself only flight bookings dictate...

In the absence of unanimous agreement, Melchor I don't suppose you have the contact of the guy who owns the flat do you, that I can pass on to Colin to find out if there are any other vacancies?
It might not be necessary but I need to have a plan B ready as I am worried that there might not be much about for them at this stage.

I'm not sure if this is the most recent information about Jerez. I don't know where the 'dorm' is, but if anyone wants to reach me, I'll be at the Hotel NH Avenida from February 27th to March 10th inclusive. The hotel's number is 956 34 74 11 and my cell phone is 616 19 09 09. I only know Kate and Melchor ...wouldn't want to miss meeting Simon and anyone else who's coming
