ORIGINAL: Haithamflamenco do u think if i paint my guitar in a luthier with a glossy verish finish, the sound will reduced!!!!
I really think you should leave it alone. You are unlikely to add anything to the guitar and unless you are VERY good and have the right equipment, it will probably look a mess. Spend your time practicing rather than painting your guitar!
There are lots of luthiers all over the UK, I have two near me that use for repairs etc, but IMO it is really not worth paying to have a lacquer finish added to a 120 quid guitar.
PS no need to post your mesages several times in different sections, it is a waste of bandwidth. People tend to use the 'posts since last visit' link so they will your posts.
If the guitar is totally raw, I think you should give it something to protect it... If you are a DIY guy and want it to be cheap and easy (And good) I will recommend True oil from LMI (www.lmii.com) 1 or 2 small bottles. You can aply with a cloth and 3-4 layers will protect the guitar and give it a beautifull luster. You should also give it a tapplate.
i just found out the the guitar is" sealed with a thin Satin laquer in all probability",
any clues about this finish!!!!?!?!
my guitar is the solid Cherry back and sides with spruce top, and there are solid maple back and sides but i didnt saw it in the shop since i bought this one, which one you thing will sounds better?
Haitham, nice guitar! £120? thats a great price! May I ask where you purchased it from? IMHO the maple would sound better than the cherry- they use maple back and sides on some Conde guitars. lastly, how about posting an audio clip? I'm very keen to hear how a £120 flamenco guitar sounds!

i was only looking for a digital tuner there, and i saw this guitar, there was to types : oak back and sides and chery back and sides, I tried the cherry one (looks too much like flamenco guitar)and the sound superised me, soo load and clear, load basses and bright trebells, the guitar looks very beautiful, very light, all solid wood, 120£ woooooow.mamameyaaaa
i compare it with the most expensive guitar there "admeira" (385£), and the Hokada guitar is much better and loader (i couldnt belive it),also the guitar has a very thin finish (which as i think give more loader sound)with golden tuners just amazing.perfect.
the neck is so perfect and thin, the guitar only need golpe plat and bridge adjusting to be perfect for flamenco, in this price 120£!!!!!!!
also the guy there play cajon with me, he loves flamenco, and i get also free soft case (good one) and free d'addario strings,
unfortunatlly I didnt know that there are maple wood type, i didnt see on in the shop,i may buy one also now;)
any way;
i bought the guitar from edinburgh from "scayles music" shop " 50 st patrick square, edinburgh, eh8 9ez. 0044 (0) 131 667 8241.
haitham, the only thing that worries me is the bridge height. Could you tell me the height of the bridge from where it meets the soundboard (front) to the top of the tieblock. Just asking because if its really a "classical" guitar, it will probably have a higher bridge than a flamenco.

Just happened to pop by after a long while. But I must say, very nice guitar. Sure doesn't sound like 120Pounds! Add a golpeador and you're set. By the way, I personally don't believe in 'flamenco strings'. It simply depends on what set of nylons your guitar is most suited to.
PS James - Sorry haven't been around lately. Could we have audio clips and photos of your guitar anytime soon?

Sure, I'll let you know when they're up. It won't be long now- the lacquering is finished and I just need to set up the nut and saddle. Should hopefully be within a couple of weeks, but I'm off until next week due to the Easter holidays.
Ps: I've already started working on my SECOND guitar, but I doubt I'll get that finished before the summer term ends this year.
Take care,

had a look at the photos, looks like a thin mat lacquer. should be fine. But as anders says, put a tap plate on it. A little tricky to do but worth doing. If you are anywhere near Lewes in east sussex go see Pablo Requena my companero there who can put one on for you.
sussex is far from where i live, i study in wrexham, north east wales, chester is 20 minutes by train, then manchester and liverpool are the nearst cities to me,
do u know any luthiers there, i really need ro lower the action,
مبروك الغيتار حلوووو جدا here is your guitar with maple sides and back with only 51 £ http://www.singingchicken.co.uk/item3965.htm I had a romanian guitar Reighen I think it has sweet sound and easy to play but it was heavy and I remember that the top was thick comparing to my current guitar Suspiro flamenco one, but still it has stong volum and other thing it is also more easy than the suspiro..... strange!!!
lol, wow... we're talking SERIOUSLY cheap guitars here! It makes me worry if you can buy a guitar for under £100, maybe there is something WRONG with it? The cypress tonewood for the guitar I'm making cost MORE than the WHOLE of some of those guitars! How is it possible to sell a guitar so cheaply when it would cost you more than the retail price just to buy the raw tonewoods?
