Tell the rest of us something about this CD. I find this kind of thing very interesting. Are you planning on taking any lessons with El C while you're in Jerez?

Hi phil!!

Well if Sean visits here soon maybe he can tell you something more enlightening. A friend of his played some of it for me last week. All I know is Sean has produced some CDs of Cadiz singers and the latest was Christmas themes. My colleagues up here in N ireland know more about the songs than i do, it was the first time i'd heard them. Very interesting though and good to see things being achieved and recorded.

Re. Jerez, well I'm sure I'll catch up with you there!! I remember last year going to see Melchora Ortega sing and she suggested I check out lessons with Fernando Morena, who apparently accompanied her at the Sevilla Bienal. So I might do this as I like to get as many perspectives as I can in these early days. It's all experience. But my Spanish is still so rudimentary it is limited what I can gain in terms of instruction. I enjoyed El C last year though so I'll see how it goes.

I've seen Melchora perform a few times and I really like her singing. The only problem that I see in taking lessons from Fernando Moreno or Antonio Jero, for example, is not that they aren't good guitarists (Jerez is filled with outstanding guitarists), it's finding out when they are available. Both are constantly on the road. The nice thing about El C is that you always know where he is and he's the only one with an actual studio. He usually only plays within easy driving distance from Jerez, so he's never away from the school. And, of course, he's an excellent guitarist and teacher. I've never seen anyone who can play a falseta extremely slow, a few notes at a time and not loose his place. However, if you do hook up with Fernando, please let us know how it went.

I had no idea that Sean was producing CDs. I still haven't met him and now it looks as though I might be moving.

Hey do you have to move house, not too far I hope? El C would have to find someone else to shout at!

Hola folks

I have not logged on for a while due to E mail problems and a change of computer with ADSL. The CD to which Emma refers to is of Villancicos Flamencos, the second recording of Toma Castaña, the best villancicos group in Cadiz.

My first flamenco production was of Juan Silva and, after Carnaval, I shall be recording Jose Millan, the guru of Cadiz flamenco.

Suerte

Sean

I've found a job near Morón de la Frontera and will be moving there within the next couple of weeks. I just received official confirmation yesterday. I've heard rumours that there are some good guitarists in Morón, so I'm sure I'll find somebody to give me lessons.
