10 Quic steps to loosing a guitar st...

I made a student drive me to the shop to buy cigarets and Ice coffe because i was too lazy to drive after one of the lessons.

We got to talking in the car and hes like saying :"- It must be so cool, doing gigs, getting paid to play guitar etc, perform.."

Without thinking who i was talking to i just jumped into my complaining Flo character

" Oh , its not as cool as you would think

all the rehersals and crap. Only looks romantic to people outside, inside its a life full of self doubt, always questioning your abilities , never feeling secure never feeling confident never beeing happy or satisfied ... "

then I realized i am talking to my guitar student !! so i turn to him and his face looks very puzzeld like " DO I really need this ?"

SO i had to quicly think of something positive to save it, and because we just stoped in front of my house the pressure to be quic was very high.

there was a litlle uncomfortabile silence in the car....................................

....u get to have sex with girls who would otherwise not not give you the time of day.

i think to be a teacher you have to forget about the charcter of the player and the gigs ,you are just passing an info to someone who is coming take it ,dont make your student your friend just deal with him as yr young brother until you feel he begin to be close to you ,this is means that you have to make himn closer step by step make your conversation abot the instrument and the sound of guitars for example or making him listen for some new flamenco guitarists thats all what he need ,if he needs a friend he will look for some one in his same age but he is looking for a teacher so you must be a teacher.

Shroomy726 I did tell him the truth

many guitarists with the personality of a capo get to have sex with attractive girls

because they just seen em at a gig or something

Any more honest, i could not be

even tho it was said half jokingly

and the truth is I dont care if he comes to me as a student or not anymore, i dont have cashflow problems anymore, but i would like to see him succed at whatever he likes to do.

Funny story Flo

You have to let them pay you 10 lessons in advance. That way you are sure they will be coming back and it gives you more room to restore this kind of situations. Also you can put more pressure on the student without being afraid that he will leave.

Koella, i just teach em a falseta but leave out random notes in it, so its like a puzzle melody, they have to come back next week to see what it sounds like

btw: I dont wanna paint some fake picture that every guitarist gets sex every day !! that would be higly missleading and irresponsible of me, give me a LITLLE bit of Credit, I told him its only on gig nights.

Flo. I know what you said was mainly tongue in cheek. Just a bit of light hearted humour.
I tried that in a classical site I'm a member of and got shot down in flames.
No sense of humour these classical walla's,
Talk about serious. No wonder classical sounds pretty dull compared with flamenco.
I nearly left the site because of their stuffed shirt attitude. But I had a think and thought I'd just stay on and wind them up a bit more.
You've got to leave room for a bit of humour too, or there's no fun in it.
Bet they dont get much sex after gigs

i heard that Singers have more sex on gig nights than Guitarists....is this true ?

One of my friends used to play Bass Guitar. And then few years ago he started to sing (persian).
He told me that during his "BASS time" he had no sex with girls on gig nights

But then after he started to sing, he had all the girls

So whats the secret ?

What do you mean ?
I heard some stories about a female classical teacher on a dutch conservatory. So it also seems to happen vice versa.

Of course she had a very busy schedule.
