Rhythm, Metronome, compas

Hi, this may seem a little off topic, but since it comes up a lot I wanted to share a little video clip that helped me a lot when I was learning how to practice properly with a metronome. It relates to flamenco compas directly IMO.

Anyway, here is Al Di meola, and yeah I know he is not flamenco, but you see him here improvising with the metronome. It is not really random noodling because of the way he is playing rhythmically to the click. He shows different speeds. Than towards the end he shows a simple 3 note phrase that he repeats over and over, but makes some very nice synchopations from something really simple.

I know his playing is pick style and advanced and all that, but when I first saw this it reall changed the way I felt about metronome practice. Learning how to control the space between the clicks, especially when they are pretty slow, is real important. Anyway, just wanted to share since I just ran across it.
