I'm looking for some good left had fingerboard dexterity exercises. I need to work on regaining some fine motor control and dexterity that I've lost due to a head injury late last summer. I stopped playing for a while out of frustration, unable to play things that were almost auto pilot for me before.
Does anybody have any favorites? I'm thinking basics to advanced so that I can rebuild.
There is a site called "Guitar Principles" which I have found really helpfull. I myself am recovering from an op, and it has helped me immensely. It has some good ideas in it. Takes a bit of searching around, but its in there. They have a book for sale (which I also purchased) its not about any particular style, but about how to play your instrument without tension or bad habit forming. Worth a look through anyway and form your own opinion.
I would second GuxDiBux's recommendation of Pumping Nylon by Scott Tennant.
It's not really an advanced book, though there are some harder pieces toward the end. It has lots of concise, easily digestible breakdowns of left and right hand technique with drills for focused on specific technical issues. The book is intended for classical guitarists, but it seems to me that nearly all of it is just as relevant to flamenco players.
