Teacher needed in UK - South West

Hiya everyone,

This is my first post on the forum, it seems to be an excellent resource! Ive been trying to learn flamenco for a short time now, mainly from the Juan Martin Solos Flamencos book, but I really feel I need a teacher to help me understand compas etc, and the finer points of the music.

Due to my job I travel around a fair ammout, but I live in Plymouth Devon, and work in Shropshire, I also spend a bit of time in Nottingham area. If anyone knows anything of any teachers in these areas or close to them, Id really appreciate some pointers as I cant seem to find one.

Hey, isn't Jon Boyes based in devon? I'm not sure if he's a "professional teacher", I think he's more of a professional musician. But if I remember rightly, he is skilled and qualified to teach. maybe send him a PM and see what he says.

Otherwise, if you can make it up to London occasionally, there are several teachers based there.

Jb

Many thanks for the replies.

JB, Thanks - I did think John was a teacher but Ill drop him a line anyway, I would mind picking his brains on the local scene!

Tomas, thank you very much for your offer. I have to say Aylesbury is a fair away from me, however its not too far from my Girlfriends at Nottingham. How often do you think long distance lessons should be taken? Many thanks for your thoughts.

Cheers.
Milonga.

I live in Plymouth as well (small world isn't it). When I moved back down here I contacted John Boyes, and he put me in contact with a teacher in Paingnton. He is on this foro sometimes as MusicalGrant. Do a search should bring up his contact details

There is a really good guitarist in Exeter, good enough to accompany dance classes alongside Tito Heredia. Unfortunately, I don't have his name and he may not give lessons, but you should be able to get it through London based dance teacher Felipe de Algeciras.

Would that be Haydn? I did a gig with him the other day in Plymouth.

Are you from round here too Donald?

FWIW, yes I work as a musician and yes I have an adult teaching quaification. I teach a little guitar as my time allows, flamenco @ beginner - 'early' intermediate level.

Sounds like Ramon Ruiz.

Hi Jim

Ramon is based in London, not Exeter.

Cheers

Hi Jon,
I read this to be saying that the guitarist was with Tito and Felipe in Exeter and thought it might be Ramon on tour with Alma.
