practice a scale with M A for about 5 minutes at whatever speed u can, then do the same scale with I M, u will get all the proof u need to satisfie your stubborn mind

I did that Florian. It is really a little bit different feeling when you switch back again to I - M !
It is like your mind is happy to able to do it the easer way again (I-M) and so makes you play a bit better! Dont know how to explain it.

However i am a little bit confused. You know i want to get out the maxiumum out of the time i do exercises and am not sure if i should really begin to excersise picados with M A also

Romerito,
I thought you said you were going to spend less time here?
(See...it's quite addictive isn't it? )

Glad to see you're still posting!

cheers

Ron

I dont understand why time would be an issue I mean are you in a hurry for something ?

Good practice is good practice, its not optional only if u have extra time on your hands.

weather u start on it now , or later ( and one day u defenetly will) u will still do it.

And generaly i agree with Romerito but arpegio dosent work your A anywhere near as much as doing straight picado on it and relaying on it for your A development is like relying on pushups for your arm muscles, it does something but takes alot longher.

with this in mind Apreggio is defenetly not to be ignored.

Dont worry about speed, thats one big key i think people have
an issue with. Its hard to not be sucked in.

Much more productive to work on making runs super precise.
ALWAYS use a metronome. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS

Work on getting clean, perfect timing, power, and staccato.

These, imho, are the things that are the compelling elements of a run.
Speed is one too, BUT it has no effect unless accompanied by the others
i mentioned.

Imagine, a rasgueado that is precisely timed, clean, fast, but has no
power.
There's no point to that, is there... Its GOT to have power, or its just not
a Rasgueado. It has to have POP.

No, speed is not my main goal. As you mentioned i want to have powerfull precise clean picado playing where you can here each single note! And not Al di Meola sound on Flamenco guitar!
So i know what you mean.......

I have 2 main weak points: picado and Alzapua
And i want to focus on them intensively now.
My other techniques are not sooo bad i think.

RE: A question about picado (in reply to Arash

I haven't read all the posts so sorry if I repeat
I believe picado is a fingerboard technique, I mean that the left hand (fingerboard assumed) plays the scale and the right hand plucks the notes.
If you think of it that way your scale will improve. Don't concentrate on the plucking fingers but on accurate fingering of your left hand.
Having said that, picado is my weakest technique but I've managed to improve by thinking this way.

Thanks Jim.

Well my left hand is pretty good. I used to play other styles (blues, metal ) before i started flamenco. But with pick!!

So main think is right hand for me.

I found a lot of great picado discussions here using the forum search, but I can't find the post by Grisha that people are referring to. Where do I look for it? I get no picado thread even when searching for all topis made by Grisha.
