We get this US TV program here called "Mythbusters", which has a couple of crazy (but smart) guys who have spent a lot of time working in the Special Effects industry in Hollywood. The aim of the program is to prove or disprove if certain "Urban Myths" are true or not... Like... "Somebody poured petrol down a toilet..and the next guy who sat on it and threw his cigarette end down between his legs got completely blown up..." or.. If you fire a gun in a high flying jet aeroplane, then the bullet-hole will cause catostrophic decompression and everybody will get sucked out the hole. or Some guys out hunting came back to their truck, but it wouldn't start. They eventually traced the cause to a blown fuse. Since they had no car fuses, they found that a 0.22 bullet would fit, so just used that instead. As they were driving along, the bullet overheated and the driver was shot. It goes on and on.... It's great fun and the two crazy guys really do go through pretty rigorous testing! Anyway, my point is... Can't we have a Flamenco Mythbusters? Like .."All the best players keep their foot going in steady time..." or PdL has the best Flamenco guitar ever made... or To play solo you must spend 20 years accompanying Dance, then another 20 accompanying Cante. or Pegs are lighter and sound better than machines ... I could go on and on.. Would be good to put such stuff to the test. I've always maintained that if a guitarist was playing behind a curtain, I'd find it difficult enough to tell if he was playing on even a Blanca or a Negra, let alone what make it was, or what kind of strings he was using... cheers Ron
