My classical teacher got me a gig man. I will be playing in a play called The Man of La Mancha. I guess I even get some solo spots performing on stage.
JUst thought I would share my good news.
I have to play something like 45 shows, every night of the week and then 3 shows on Saturday. And it pays very well won't say how much.
It's a spanish play in english of course but pretty cool hu.
Much better than my garbage Flamenco movie I was supposed to be in. Couldn't even get them to do Palmas in time errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Cheers to all wooooooohoooooooooooooooo.

They put that on here last year and a friend of mine played in it. He actually wanted me to help him out and fill in some nights but there was no money in it...
I'm pretty sure David Serva did that gig in NY, so there may be a lot of nice flamenco parts in the score. Have you seen the score? Where is your production?
Well they want something for the intro, probably a Solea. For the intermission they want a firey Bulerias. And then I'll be playing to Little bird Little bird.
What ever songs I can get music for or figure out they will takw out of the sound track and let me play them.
They want me to do some small lines in the play as well, scarey.
I had to play Bulerias for 40 actors in the rehearsal studio last night.
But I did well and they loved it, so I got the job.

Weirdly, I had a dream last night...I was in a play and I hadn't looked at the lines in years. So I was going around trying to get a copy of the script so I could at least improvise them. For some reason I had an idea that I would be able to successfully improvise the lines, maybe even be better than the play. However, there were these bouncers trying to throw me out, and eventually I had to hide from the heat. I wonder if that's how crazy people like stalkers fee.
I did Man of la Mancha here in Adelaide last year (5 shows). It´s heaps of fun - much of the score is faily general with chords plus rhythm patterns so there is lots of room to mess around with it and add little fills etc. Good luck and have fun! - Aloysius
Hey Flo! Spain is awesome .... Vicente concert amazing, going to see J.M.Leon tomorow night with a dancer have to go run out of money at an internet cafe
Thats very cool Aloysius, Yes it is a lot of fun. LAst night I did my parts from memmory so they where pretty happy with me. I'm hooked to this play thing, I love it and want to do more of them now. Our opening night is Oct 9th so it's coming up quick.
Anyway I miss having time to hang out on the forum, hope everyone is doing well. .

Edgar, glad you're having such a good time, man! My friend who did it never even memorized it, sounds like you're getting a lot out of it. I hope guitar doesn't lose you to the theatre :)
Opening night was amazing, were getting great reactions so far. THe show is already 77 percent sold out. We perform for 530 every night, wow what a rush. I am having so much fun with this play. After each show we go out in the lobby and shake hands, with the audience. Any way I'm working two jobs basically so not much time for foro flamenco but I will check in when I can, hope I havn't missed any good arguements or great uploads.
Have a great day everyone.

That's great, man! Sounds like a hell of a lot of fun. I'll bet you won't be really tired until after the last show, then you'll completely break down and sleep for a week straight
Thought I would drop in and say hi. I have been so busy with the play and work, and me and my girlfriend broke up. It looks like I have missed a lot on the forum. I'm planning my trip to Spain for April so I hope all goes well.
The play has taught me so much about performing, I'm learning how to trust my technique and play with confidence instead of getting nervous.
The play is getting great reviews, I'ts so much fun hanging out with like minded folks into art theater music dance bla bla.
Anyway I miss the forum and just wanted to visit for a bit while I have time.
