Tap plate removal

My tap plate has become unglued where I tap the most. It's been that way for years, but it's becoming a problem since a space like an air bubble has formed. I want to remove the tap plate and reglue or replace it. I have a few questions:

1. How do I remove the tap plate?

2. What type of glue should I use to reglue it?

3. The tap plate is one piece from above the 6th string to below the 1st. Would a 2 piece plate be better? I can help but think that the one piece plate must affect the sound, since it covers so much of the surface of the guitar top. Any thoughts on this?

4. Where can clear tap plates be purchased?

Unfortunately, these are U.S. sources. IIRC someone a while back posted a London source. A search may reveal it. Surly there must be several sources in Spain. Anders is probably aware of them. Likewise, IIRC the thicker, .011mm ones are recommended.

Personally, I would not attempt to re-glue it, unless perhaps the top is FP. The new ones are very inexpensive. I'd be really careful if you have a French Polished top as I don't know how it would react to even minor heating/warming.

There are several old threads on Glopeadors and their effects on sound. As I recall the consensuses is that there is little, if any, effect if properly installed.

I would not do this myself, especially because my guitar constructor demands just 10€ for the whole act (new golpeador included).

If I where you, I would consult a constructor and have it done by him.

Watch how he is doing this, and then if you want you can do this yourself next time.
