I doubt you could beat nail silk, and super glue, wait befor each coat dries, kleenex is too fibrous and will fray at the edges.

wow, you've had a lot of problems! I have used acrylics for about 4 years now and don't really have too many complaints--just that when they put them on it feels different every time and I have to get used to it. I hope mine never fall off and bring the nail with it!

You might want to try using the fabric softener squares that you put in the drying machine for static cling. That's what I used when I started out.

I'm telling you guys, just buy a Lume' nail kit. You won't be sorry. Period. I have been using it for about four months and have only had to touch up my nails maybe three times. They look just like natural nails and they absolutely don't break.

The neat thing about Lume' over acrylics is you don't have to have a thick surface to create the strength. The nail gel that you set with an ultraviolet light is designed to be somewhat flexible, yet wears like iron. I’ve been down the superglue road. Never again!

As for lifting, Lume' sells a product called No Lift Nail Primer that all but eliminates lifting.

I play about 15 to 20 hours per week, so my nails get a hell of a work out.

The stuff is so strong. I think you would break a finger before a nail. I guess you can always get superglue and Kleenex at a 7-11 in an emergency.

Tom,

Speaking of PDL and nails. I read an interview that PDL gave and he said the worst parts about his carrier was the travel and nail care! In fact he even talked about the depressing aspects of worrying about his nails.

Andy,

I don't know about Kung Fu, but my nails go through hell. One thing that I do, is file the nail as shown in Pumping Nylon where you file at an angle so the nail is a bit shorter then the gel material. Does that make any sense? This way the nail is protected by the plastic on top as it sticks out slightly ahead of the nail.

When I first started with the system, I did get a bit of lifting a couple of times only at the exposed edge of the nail. All I did was float a bit of superglue on the lifted edge to re-seal it. That worked fine. About a month ago I ordered the No-Lift primer and have had no lifting at all.

The Lume' product is not an acrylic. Acrylics gain strength by just being very thick. Lume' on the other hand has flexable properties to it, so if you jam a nail, it flexes somewhat. If you want, you can apply several coats of the gel to give you a rock hard nail like acrylics.
