Flamenco 8 - Boxed!
Okay. I now have a box... Very exciting, and have learned soooooo much. If I did this again, I think it would be a very very nice guitar. Next time....
Glued the back on today, then as we pulled from the solera a few hours later, I had forgotten to wax it. I WAS GLUED! Crap....
Took t-h-i-n, flexible metal scrapers and gently slid them under until it came off....clean - no damage. . Next time......
My 'centers' are almost dead on. The sides connecting at the back missed by about 1mm, but I can compensate with a bit more back strip. Next time......
Ooops - the back glue up - is very clean. Inside, I taped off the cypress backlining before glue up. Ummmm...Perfect. Except it was almost impossible to get the tape out... There is still one, 1 x 1mm piece in a corner. Bob calls it my signature. I don't think I want to sign it like this... ...Next time...
Shaped the edges of the back until clean. Shaped down the sides around the soundboard. Did some light, 'clean up' sanding. Nothing fancy.
Bob says it's "pretty damn nice" for a first effort. Life long wood work, working with my hands, boat building, etc., PLUS having the tools and guidance...an opportunity of immense proportions.
So tomorrow, I enter "Binding Hell", as Bob calls it....(big sigh here....). Tired, nervous, excited...
So...... a few months later....Here it is. I taped on the fretboard and bridge for a better idea. Looks 'thick', without bindings to break up the lines a bit...

I am trying to be patient and do the best I can, but every step is just 'brand new', so I 'miss' how certain elements link or apply into the next step, etc... As I said, IF....I did this again, I think it might be awesome, as I know what to look for.
Fingers are crossed, however, on this one (in respect to overseas friends; "holding thumbs")... to turn out well...
Funny.... posting like this here on FF? You guys give me a bit more motivation to do better, AND to get it done...
Due to the light-and-dark contrasts of spruce/cypress, and macassar/Gabon ebony woods, I'm thinking her name might be 'sol y sombra'....
