Por arriba?

Hahaha,

I was just watching the Chano Lobato video of Puro y Jondo, and the start of the buleria made me smile. I wanna share the reason why

Antonio Carrion, in my book probably one of the best accompanists around, starts his first compas chording in E. Chano Lobato starts palmas, shouts some jaleo(what is that? It sounds like amahaja...). Then he looks at Antonio's guitar, and has this dazzled look on his face while he utters: por arriba?

I don"t know about you guys, but I just think it's supercool for a cantaor to know his way around a guitar.

Poor humor, I know, but noticing stuff like this is fun for me.

Good night!

Tenshu,
these little insights into the life of the legends is great, huh? But I think all cantaors know the difference between por arriba and por medio, and what fret they sing at. They have to communicate to the guitarist where they are comfortable singing.
