This is hard stuff! Don't give up... And don't make it a race. Enjoy the ray of sunshine that comes with every new step in knowledge.
PDL - Sirocco (milestone, can't leave it out) Vicente Amigo - De Mi Corazon Al Aire (rarely hear so many catchy tunes on one album) Sabicas - Flamenco Puro (great example of his virtuosity and genius) PDL - Fuente y Caudal (some great older "muy flamenco" compositions of his) Manolo Sanlucar - Recital Flamenco (some great older "muy flamenco" compositions of his) Gerardo Nunez - Andando el Tiempo (damn, I'm always speechless on this one) Jerónimo (a young virtuoso genius and great composer) José Jiménez - Algo que Decir (beautiful compositions, great guitarist) Michio - Zambúllete (more poetic in his compositions with noticable classical influence, great music and playing) Tomatito - Barrio Negro (heavy flamenco guitar - love it)
I did my best - a 10 best of is just too short.....
I know of web sites similar to Amazon which specialize in selling flamenco albums and deliver by mail. All German though, close as we are to Spain and in the EU. There must be English site like this. Maybe someone from England could help?
Here's a list of stuff which gets a lot of entrance in to mine ears lately that hasn't been mentioned...
Camaron's "Potro de Rabia y Miel" with Paco and Tomatito La Tana's "Enamorare" with Diego de Morao Jose Merce's "Del Amenecer" with Vicente Amigo Remedios Amaya's "Me Voy Contigo" Potito's "Mia Pa Los Restos" with Tomatito Potito's "El Eltimo Cantaor" with Tomatito, Manuel Parrila etc... Duquende's latest Potito's latest Ramon Jimenez' album Guadiana's "Brillo de Luna" and "Cuando el Rio Suena" with lots of incredible young cats Jesus de Rosario's album La Macanita's "La luna de Tomasa"
There's too much, but make sure to buy all of Paco's albums. They're worth it.
