Jerez Festival 2026

Long time lurker here and I wanted to ask for any thoughts, suggestions or experiences with the Jerez Festival. My wife and I are flying into Malaga and renting a car Feb 24 and flying out March 6. I am studying guitar and she is studying cante.

So, in a dream world I would have our days with classes and our nights with watching flamenco. Does anyone have suggestions for instructors, seminars or places to go?

Thanks for any insight. It will be our first time in Andalucia and we might not want to leave.

My wife and her dance friends have been going. This is the first year she is dragging me a long. So I have no clue and will be discovering myself what there is to do. Hopefully we can meet up and discuss, I will be down there February 27 to march 7. email me at

Last time I was there I had some lessons with Manuel Valencia.

Easy to find his place and very generous and nice chap. showed me some pretty cool material.

maybe you are looking for more formal situation though? group classes etc?

where are you travelling from?

Thanks, I'll reach out to Manuel Valencia. Either with just a teacher or a group. The last time I had guitar lessons was for classical way back in like 1998 but for flamenco the last few years has just been YouTube or whichever subscription online school. So I'm looking for a good critical experience.

I'll be traveling out of New Mexico. The flights weren't too bad $ wise. But with like three connections I'm just worried about traveling with a guitar. Or even traveling home with two lol. Or I might just stay there, who knows.

1 to 1 lesson in music studio or room may not be the one for you then?

maybe you want some group class? jose ignacio franco school in jerez?

I've not attended. I had the impression they did group classes which would generate that social element, which i think is vital for the critical experience you may be after.....

(although maybe group stuff doesnt happen at his school now?)

tbh, I think being in jerez is a critical experience in its own right. You'll know what i mean once you are there.
