July in S. Spain for workshops and f...

I'm looking at a few venues in the south of Andalusia this summer, and am concerned about the heat at the peak of summer. I've been to Barcelona and Madrid, but not further south. Do busses, trains, stations, restaurants, etc. have AC or are otherwise manageable for comfort? Is taking a guitar along practical?

Some places do get really hot. If that is not your thing maybe stay away at that time. Yes you can get hotels with AC, usually the expensive ones. The coast is nicer due to cool breeze from the ocean, so Sanlucar de Barrameda, down to Cadiz. The good hotel there in Sanlucar is Los Helechos, and ask for the bar Contratiempo for flamenco (you can walk to it from there). Might as well try to hook it up with Gerardo Nuñez curso if your trip hits the middle week.

Thanks, Ricardo. Yes, the Gerardo Nuñez is one curso under consideration. Also Juan Martin's in Ronda. Just outside now, it's only 19 but very bright sun and I do think more than twice about July! Good tips on where to stay in Sanlucar. Just wish there were more offerings in cooler months. I'm missing the April guitar festival in Madrid, things were sold out by the time I found out about it

When I lived in Granada it got to 43C indoors!. Didn’t go out after 11:00am until 10pm. air con in decent hotels, bars, bigger buses and some trains. I got air con after the first year. Coast can be cooler with the breeze. A dry heat, but very hot from late June through September.

Thanks, Escribano. Most of Europe has gotten hot in the summer. 2018 was a brutal year, and without AC, it can be as hot inside as out. I will keep eyes open for a cooler weather workshop, although the Nuñez workshop is appealing.

Maybe it is, Stu! I had seen "online flamenco cordoba course" in posts, but not read them, thinking it was an online (vs in person) course. Reading those posts now.
