Hmmm, I'm not sure myself. listened through some on the way home from work in the car.

The Bulerias was awesome. Sounded like Paco at points and Vicente at others and obvs himself too! I really got goose bumps!

the rest??

But I imagine it grows on you... but that doesnt necessarily mean good.

I know what you mean. The bulerias is def the best track. It sounds like the Makarines recorded the their part and emailed it to Toni, or they are too far away from the mic. Not that I’m complaining, just letting everyone know my golden ears.

The segurilla is OK. Would have been nice to have some more meaty falsetas.

The rest, I sort of enjoy it as background music, whereas the bulerias is like active listening.

All that said, I don’t have any other flamenco guitar to listen too right now, save the new VA album.

I expected something better. Except from the Buleria, the rest of the pieces unfortunately go unnoticed.
Of course, some parts are interesting.

He is the Steve Vai of flamenco.

So I was listening in the car…something majorly wrong with the fidelity of this recording. No bass. Most likely when they monitored it for mastering, the monitors had too much bass so they reduced it, which was a huge mistake.

A friend went to see Vai in New Orleans and while in the restroom, which must of been during the guitar solo :-), heard a guy say "This guy being paid by the note or what?"

My friend said Vai's act didn't go over in New Orleans.

I respect Vai's ability to the extent I muster interest in that type of playing, but don't care for his output. I can't say the same for AR. He has written some great music IMO.

Wow, ok. I listened to the song discussed (bulerias from the album, thanks for posting, though I found it myself). I said there is no darn bass in the spectrum, you said “the answer is in the long ass video”, I said I am not going to WATCH the long video to find the answer, please point to the time stamp!!! . Unless you actually don’t know why there is no bass, if so, thanks for posting the same video that pops on my new feed all day, but no thanks I am not going to sit through it. Unless there is some revolution coming with this album, which I am not hearing yet.

Ricardo , thats all that you saw in the 40m plus video?
strange , your spanish is really good, it doesnt make sense .

He explains the production , i think not all details .
He tried to do something more pure , even with mistakes and less mixed/production

Oh so maybe he was too far from the mic and that’s what he had to work with in post editing since he only was doing one take? Or he just cut the bass as Ricardo thinks

Solo flamenco guitar is a dead end. It's going nowhere. Dammit! I'd rather listen to Rosalia instead. It's really grown on me.

And that’s why I’ve lowered my expectations and take what I can enjoy from new albums. Can’t expect another Colores del Fuego or Vivencias Imaginadas or Jucal. Paco was the only guy to consistently amaze. Tomatito always puts out an enjoyable album too

I said I am NOT GOING TO WATCH A FREAKIN 40 minute VIDEO to find out … you claim to have the answer having watched and I asked for a time stamp. “IN EDITO” means live in the studio, like Van Halen etc., they let mistakes of playing go on tape. That has ZERO to do with a mastered recording with compression etc., and explains not why there is NO bass on voice, palmas, etc. If he does not address the issue that there is no bass on the recording then there is “no answer”. In the end I hear overdubs etc., so with except perhaps of solo guitar tracks, this is NOT a live studio recording/capture.

Troll chat bot alert!

If there was evidence needed that this is a fake account this is it.

It's on page 1 of 'how to piss off foro members'...
1. Insult solo guitar
2. Praise Rosalia
3. Praise the doctor and Andalusian guitars.
