Oh dear.

Id wager the reason you get no advice on the varnish thread is directly related to the existence of this thread!

And specifically, your determination to tell others they are wrong and not accept you just had an idea that was, at best, not really thought out and at worst, down right offensive

Manitas de Lata has chosen an interesting moniker. In Spanish "lata" means "tin" or "tin can." But it also means "nuisance" or "pest."

Actually in my case it shows that I speak Spanish, that my mother spent her first 16 years living in Mexico until her father moved the family to the US in the 1930s after Mexico nationalized the US-owned Union Pacific Railroad in northern Mexico where he worked, and that I was assigned to American Embassies in both Honduras and Chile (among other countries) during my career in the US Diplomatic Service.

My advice would be to demonstrate a little humility before making assumptions about Foro members you know nothing about, as well as members who are luthiers and know a lot more about guitars than you apparently do. Just a suggestion.

of course you know many meanings for various words , like "lata" , sure....

great diplomacy skills..., you could stoped at Tin.. no? still , theres more meanings that you could tell for "lata" , more gracious than a destrutive..and you dont know of course , you re not native. Theres not such meaning of Lata relative to pest or so , in native castelhano.
if you want respect , first you have to respect the other .

the issue when you drop at a conversation that you dont know the context is that you cant understand whats going on , or theres a issue in reading ..

again you show great diplomacy skills .

take care

Castellano and espaniol de Mexico are different, different enough that the word for tin, a non heavy metal to indeed indicates that somebody is a ‘plomo’. 😂

I’d be careful stepping on Mexican Spanish speakers here because the bosses wife is Mexican and there’s a few border state natives who speak fluent Mexican Spanish.

What a ridiculous question!

I'm the person who's read every response on this thread and who's also witnessed you delete most of your own replies and even the title of this thread! You seem to have made similar judgments yourself, even if you arent willing to admit it directly!

unless you mean the judgment of 'why your varnish thread is like a graveyard'?

In that case I could be wrong yes. Just an educated guess of how things work.
Thread 1 - Offend most members of the luthiery section
Thread 2 - None of those offended members reply.

or could be that the question is a waste of time and could've got no hits anyway?

Can't see any more options.

Anyway sorry if you dont like what youre reading. no hard feelings man.

Lets talk technique on the general board.
