Canteytoque website: please consider...

Hi guys, it's been a while since I've posted. I've just noticed that the canteytoque website appears to be down or offline. Has anybody else noticed this or heard anything about a possible explanation?

EDIT: Please disregard. I must have been clicking on broken links to the "fonoteca de soleares" and "fonoteca de siguiriyas" pages, as I was able to navigate to the home page and then access them from there. Sorry if I've caused any momentary panic!

Yes, I think the issue was on Google's end rather than being a problem with the site itself. In any case, this is making me realize how reliant I've been on that site as a resource. I am filled with dread at the prospect of not being able to categorize soleá letras without having memorized their melodies and sources

His site is based on a book (or books?) and I was in Madrid flamenco vive and asked they guy if he had the book to purchase (so I would not have to rely on the website so much), and he said it is out of print and impossible to find used.

There are ways to download the entire website, just to be on the safe side :)

I created a complete snapshot just now, at archive.org . It should cover the entire website with all links within (but I see that many more earlier snapshots exist as well, so this is just the latest one), meaning all outlinks pages are saved within the web archive as well and do not call the live website. So, at least what is there as of now is safe.

I see Norman is asking for donations on the home page. I hadn't noticed that before because I'd been using bookmarked links straight to the cante sections. So we can help keep the website online.

Canteytoque website: Please Consider... (in reply to orsonw

Norman emailed me to say that the website hosting renewal is imminent and due to personal circumstances he is asking for donations. So if you have ever found his website useful perhaps consider donating to keep it online.

Donate button on the home page here: http://canteytoque.es/

He asked me to let you know that he has a new solea collection, that he hopes will be uploaded to website in the next week:

"..upcoming soleares collection. There are 30 falsetas of my own and 50 more of other guitarists (Paco, Moraito, Vicente Amigo, Melchor, Ricardo, etc.), most of which I have adapted to my own preferences. I’ve used MuseScore for the notation, so the scores look much better than my other collections. The falsetas are new compositions and things I’m still playing after living in Spain for 36 years, and the collection includes audio recordings of me playing all of the material."

The reason I'm posting is that he's tried but been unable to access his old foro profile or open a new foro profile, some technical glitch?

Do you happen to recall the title?

Two years ago, I was on the lookout for a compilation of letras from Granada (particularly of tangos de Granada) and experienced a similar difficulty when I realized that I needed Curro Albaicín's Cancionero del Sacromonte. Luckily, I ended up finding a signed copy being sold at an online antique dealership service.

I ask, though, because I will likely be spending some time at the archive in Jerez this spring/summer, and so I'll almost certainly be able to get my hands on a copy of whatever that book is. I will be able to at least partially digitize it and then circulate the scans to interested parties (I'd probably focus on any info/material that Kliman doesn't already include in his online resource).

Thanks for the heads up! Donated.

if i click the link it takes me to a web server page, but if I copy and past the link text into browser it works...

EDIT: and weirdly, having pasted the link text into another browser tab, clicking the link now works...

Thanks for pointing out the donation button Orsonw, I will gladly donate. Its a great website and the solea falseta package I bought earlier this year will be useful for years. I have never had trouble connecting to it, just remembering what it's called.😬
