Paco classics, flamenco vs classical...

I used to do this unplugged gig and am starting it up again after the pandemic had stopped it, and for advertising I came across these vids someone took years ago. A gentleman (Bill Fonville) had brought in his classical guitar that he built for me to try. So I use his guitar for the guajiras (no golpes) and my conde negra for the panaderos. It makes for a nice comparison between the classical guitar and the flamenco negra tonal qualities (no freakin difference IMO

)

last time i was in spain we went to cordoba and wandered down a street past the mezquita festooned with tourist tat shops... outside one with the usual racks of postcards etc. we heard some flamenco, so went into the shop. At the back of the shop was a restaurant with a small stage... and Niño Seve accompanying Moisés Vargas and a dancer. We went in and had some overpriced but ok food (worth it for the show IMO). But all the while there were people at tables gassing away....

EDIT: I originally posted a video of Moisés Vargas and Niño Seve (not from the venue I saw them in, just whatever came up on youtube), but took it down as I don't want to detract from your thread. Anyone interested can just put their names into Youtube.

I used to do all my personal compositions, to keep them in shape. Alegrias, bulerias, Solea, Fandango, Taranta, Minera, Rondeña/buleria, and balance with some covers of Paco, Sabicas, Escudero, and rumbas of course. Some people would dance Sevillanas and Rumba. It has been about 3 years since I was doing that gig, it stopped when the Pandemic hit, and of course I have lost a lot of that repertoire. Trying to get it back one piece at a time.
