Wiping guitar strings after use? 
Does anyone wipe down their strings? Does it make a difference? Im basically changing my strings every three weeks and it's annoying. Perhaps flamenco is just hard on strings? I mean the capo I use on the 1st and 2nd fret does not help, though my strings get discoloured aswell which I would assume is the corrosive skin oil? I only practice about 1.5 hours a day 7 days a week, sometimes more on the weekend though it depends.

Cleaning the strings after playing with a soft cloth might help to get anything left off the strings. Do they loose their sound or get cut over the frets? Either way if you want less string changing for the basses, try Knobloch basses. I do not know where you live but in the US they are a bit pricier than most other brands (not here in the EU) but their basses last way longer than any other brand I have tried. Another bass set that lasts longer is the D'Addario XT set. I think that you can get at least more than a month with both Knobloch or D'Addario XT.

Used to obsess over this stuff years ago when I played bass. Maybe helped a little there, but the strings were so big each ridge on the string was visible. Even tried boiling the strings sometimes to get another week out of them. Not sure how you'd get really get a cleaning product into the gooves in a useful way on a classical to be honest.

Personally I just use my old Almansa beater for 48 hours when changing strings on the Sanchis, but not everyone has a 2nd guitar.

Browsed these, makes perfect sense. Now that i think about it i tend to practice a new Falsetta in between a workout, lol so than i wonder why my strings are dead in two to three weeks. So sweat does kill strings, im not worried about color but the sweat seems to kill the sound aswell. It actually messes with my playing causing me to play harder than necessary to compensate for the lack of volume/projection (and tone). I even find fast hammer ons and legatos more difficult. I guess i should start wiping them down with a dry micro fibre after each day.
