Wow thats a pretty wide taste, I like classical & death metal but I also like world and jazz, maybe some world type new age depending on the mood though primarily instrumental stuff.

Well I typed that list hastily and forgot to mention GONG and Hillage, and more recently I became a big fan of Kendrick Lamar, To Pimp A Butterfly is a magnificent album that gives me goose pimples. I've been in a fairly diverse bunch of bands, alt metal, rock, chamber pop, sitar fusion, and still in a South African afrobeat/kwaito band. I never got into jazz, I have tried, but some of the new jazz-influenced stuff that has been emerging over the past 10 years is more my thing. Knower are incredible, I love that kind of stuff.
Mind you, flamenco has always been in my consciousness from an early age, and since starting lessons with Ramon Ruiz in January I've only really been listening to flamenco.

I don't even listen to flamenco anymore!
Just realised that the other day. I've sort of fallen out of the habit. Again I blame on the fact I had children.
Used to be Hip hop, drum and bass, classical, world music, flamenco... Then became only Flamenco!! have sort of dipped back into old tastes.
I always felt any time listening to other genres, was time I could be listening to flamenco. I have since realised thats probably not as productive as I thought.

Helloween, Racer-X, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Avantasia. BWV 1016, Glenn Gould 24 book 2, Segovia, John Williams, Miles Davis, Mahavishnu/Shakti, The Guitar Trio, World Sinfonia, Yngwie, Van Halen, Jason Becker.
For flamenco, I only listen to old cante these days, though there is tons of stuff….and the top solo guitarists Ramon, Sabicas, Paco, Manolo, Gerardo. Antonio Rey sometimes.
Internet and the phase out of CD has changed things for me big time. I no longer check out new music like I used to….new CD’s in the car. It started when I purchased my car and they laughed at me when I asked for one with CD player. I had to make play lists on my phone….this apple sharing sh1t has ruined my old play lists and whatnot so I use YouTube mostly to listen to albums or make my own play lists there. I have one album of Racer X in a drop box someone sent me, it is ridiculous. YouTube lets me listen to music and use GPS at the same time at least. AT home I am collecting vinyl like a mad man. I used to hate vinyl, now it seems like the only real music in existence. Tauromagia is on heavy rotation along with Ramon’s solo album, Sabicas with Carmen Amaya, Escudero with a Hauser, etc. I will use the DVD player and surround sound on rare occasion to play CD’s. Strange times.
I just saw Al Dimeola last night, and his big selling thing is vinyl. The funniest thing is he hand writes out charts of his famous tunes and sells them with his signature in the top, as if he is Picasso.

I’m a fan of good songs and they can be found in most genres. I listen to Bach performed on classical guitar and harpsichord when I’m actively looking for music. For the most part I like to hear what an individual can do with a instrument and I’m less interested in bands and orchestras.

@Stu, I listen to a TON of music, sometimes 8 hours a day depending on what im doing for work which is mostly a desk Job. I guess i feel I've run out of new flamenco artists to listen to, though i've been searching up some of the newer or well known artists. Lately I've been obsessed with Luciano Ghosn, I found out he has some tutorials on patreon that I will subscribe to eventually, or maybe even a few lessons. For some reason his playing to may ears very closely resembles Vicente Amigo.
@Ricardo, im also into Vinyl and higher end stereo equipment though this summer has left zero time for it, I even built a listening room a few years ago that I use every night for a bit. Im actually interested to look up some flamenco on vinyl, im sure it exists. The nice thing about vinyl is you can find stuff that you can't find on Spotify or CD's.
@Pgh_flamenco I can understand that, there is alot of talent tied up in introverts who just want to play focus on their instruments and not have to deal with the dynamics of a band or an orchestra
@silddx One thing that got me into Jazz was Coltrane and Miles Davis, though its definitely an acquired taste and it takes time. Though the same thing can be said for flamenco I would say as I dont know anyone else that likes it, especially as much as I do.

Bit random these days. Getting lots of modern Spanish stuff in my autosuggestions on Spotify so currently listening to stuff like Fuel Fandango and Tokischa.
Still sometimes listen to bass heavy electronic stuff in gym - Skrillex, Pendulum, NiN, generic Spotify gym-bass-motivation rando playlists. Some old trip-hop like Massive Attack / Tricky and Portishead.
Way back was into Alice In Chains / Soundgarden / Jurassic 5. Only rock these days is stuff likr Blackwater fever or Dead Weather, but not often.
Podcasts take up a lot more of my audio time these days.

@silddx - Whats Rush? and Knower?
@trivium91 - yeah lucian is a cool dude and plays great! I believe vicente is his fave dude and a inspiration. Think he's a member here.
Yeah I gotta say, Im a sucker for Vicente aswell, he was my favourite player even before I started playing so when I see Luciano play it just as well I have alot of respect for him. I love Paco but there is something about Vicente, though I think Paco has more technical prowlness. Vicente has deep sense of melody and intuition in his music, thats the best description I can come up with.

Yeah. I thought that were genres!
But even now you've explained. I must still admit I still never heard of either.
I'll check those videos.Thanks
Rush was a Canadian rock band, though huge influence on North American culture and music, basically up there with Pink Floyd and with a huge cult following. You are in London so maybe they were relatively unknown there, im sure you know Pink Floyd though.
This is a good Rush one if you are into classic rock

You know what I find odd when listening to other Genres? When someone ask, “hey man, what you listening to?”, and I say Flamenco, And they say huh? I don’t feel like I have to explain to them anything about it or deal with any puzzled reactions 😆

RUSH have been my favourite band for over 40 years
I remember seeing their name on posters stapled to telephone posts in small towns where they’d be playing the local community centre and the like. At that point in time I don’t think they had released a record yet. They seemed to be everywhere, just a hardworking band paying their dues and building their reputation based on solid live performances, one gig after another. I actually hadn’t even heard them play yet but I recall having had a lot of admiration and respect for their work ethic and diligence.

Metallica, Deep Purple classics, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, jazz solo piano, Romantic era classical music, ABBA, Pink Floyd, late 1920s to late 1940s swing and jazz. A few 'guitar heroes' - Ritchie Blackmore/Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Schenker/MSG.

hoary old 70's prog rock band!
EDIT: damn, just seen there are actual Rush fans here, sorry guys, no offense intended... were they really as big as Pink Floyd though?
Yeah sorry, I should have quoted. I have seen so many discussions about the value of one band or another. It's all subjective. Some people can get very pissed off when someone disses their favourite artist and there are needless arguments and justifications.

There's a really nice film about them called Beyond The Lighted Stage that has them going to the old places they played their first gigs in Toronto. They did work very hard.
